I am looking for some ideas here. Since all my paychecks are direct deposited it is hard for me to get cash. I have a small fund now but it is dwindling away. The only way I can currently get cash is then I hold back $5 or $10 bucks here and there from what she knows about. I can't take too much or she will wonder where it went.

And everyone had to take a 5% hit on paycheck.  Then go to your HR/Website wherever you have your DD set and divert 5% to another bank account.  Make sure you don't have any debit card/ check books etc for this bank account. You don't want any proof that this bank a/c exists. Whenever you need to withdraw money, you can just go up to the teller and fill up a withdrawal slip.  

Get a 2nd job that will get you away from the bitch at home and put money in your pocket for the hobby.

Maybe it's that you like to eat a big lunch, or have some kind of hobby, or whatever.

Then, divert some of that cash away into a hobby fund that you keep very well hidden.  (Consider hiding it at work, for example so she doesn't find it at home.

Some wives watch every penny like a hawk, and I suppose they suspect that if their man gets a few bucks, he'll run off to a hooker.

They're probably right.

Like golf. Say you are taking lessons or joined a golf club. That gives both the time and the money excuses. And of course, get some golf clubs to make it believable. Tell her you're going to get a set that costs a lot, then go for a less expensive (or even used) set.

Start hauling aluminum cans, scrap steel, old copper wire to your local scrap yard.

I gradually increased my pocket money so it about double what it was before.  I take the same amount each pay period.  What is not spent becomes my play money...  and gets diverted into my hidden funds.  I don't carry it all but I don't leave it in my sock drawer for her to track as I replenish every few days.  If I thought she was watching, I'd move that a little at a time too.  I save up for my play time...  but it works well for me.
I have never withdrawn cash to coincide with a hobby adventure & AWOL time.      

I always take out an extra $40-$50 when I go grocery shopping and just be sure to throw the receipt away. but if your SO really watches the cash flow then maybe this wont work for you. Luckily my wife could care less about our finances as long as there is money for her to spend she is happy.

1) If you get cash back at the register at the grocery store it will show up on the statement like you just spent additional money on groceries.
