My parents are two weeks away from celebrating 35 happy year's of marriage. Both sets of Grandparents made it to 50. We don't have a big family but we are close. Me and my sister can't figure out what to do for them for 35. Last year we got them tickets to see Book of Mormon. The idea's that are on the table is we rent out a private room in a NY restaurant and invite there friends and the rest of our family to a catered meal or we buy them a weekend trip just to get out of the every day routine someplace. We can't afford to send them to Europe where they have never been but we were thinking Myrtle Beach .

To the people on the site How did you celebrate your 35th year if you made it that far? What would you want your grown kids to do for you for 35?

Looking forward to seeing what you have to say.
If you got different idea's share them. We are open to idea's

Magic Day is February 1st.

It's like the redneck Riveria. It's a tourist trap and can be a crowded mess. Check out NC beaches or the NC outer banks if you're wanting a quiet and romantic kind of deal for them. HIlton Head Island in SC is nice more upscale or check the Charleston SC area. Oak Island NC is a quaint place and quiet yet close to Carolina Beach, Wilmington and the little town of South Port where they make a bunch of those Nick Sparks movies. I love the NC coast but you couldn't pay me to go to Myrtle Beach again.

in the dead of winter would be a sane option for a New Yorker. Hell I won't travel there in the winter months

Summer. Winter. Spring or Fall ....
it'll be to see Carolina ... Sexy Carolina

A little banter with a gal here can be fun and be useful to establish a dialogue with a lady before meeting but....

It helps if the lady you're trying to butter up is PARTICIPATING IN THE THREAD. And you've, hopefully unintentionly, blundered. Imagine walking into the Ford dealer walking up to the sales guy and saying " I'm gonna buy a Camaro"
See how goofy that looks?
Now the last thing Miss Stephanie needs is my assistance, but just thought as a service to the community and maybe to learn ya something.

Very true!! I was assuming that he had enough sense to know any coastal area north of Florida wouldn't be a great choice till spring/summer. But ya never know what someone else has in mind. I was assuming he was planning ahead. You may have just saved them a major let down.

Charleston SC.,  Savannah, Ga. , or Sea Island would all be great.

How about getting Dad a female escort and Mom a male escort?

This is a fuck board you know, and threads are supposed to be "hobby related"

You're welcome

Thanks for the great advice. I know it's the general board I have mentioned to admin to make a board where you can discuss anything they haven't done that yet so I'm typing it here. Enjoy your night.

I think the reason they made it to 35 years is because they never cheated on each other. My dad only has eyes for my mom. My mom would be repulsed by the idea of a male escort.

No matter how happy you think they are I bet they would appreciate a break.

having hit the 35 mark myself, I'd say -- the folks just want you to know you remember and care. Call them. Tell them you love them. Tell them you're thankful they were your parents. That's all they really want.

last june, 2 weeks after our 31st anniversary.  i had no idea she was unhappy.

i am not in the mood to talk about happy marriages

I am not accusing, just pointing out a relevant fact.

true dat but she knew since 2007 and that had nothing to do with her decision.

tbh i think she's with another guy.

We spent 4 days in a mountain view suite at the Inn on The Biltnore Estate in Asheville. There is a lot to do there: tour the mansion, the gardens are spectacular (especially in late April and early May), there's a winery, horseback riding, carriage rides, etc.

Crystal4fun for dad and
Krystal(aka Queenie) for Mom?

a pair of Waterford Champagne
flutes with ... a bottle of Crystal`

You can kill two birds with one stone

by spending a romantic few days at a scenic resort in Az.We financed it. We didn't expect our 2 kids to do anything other than inviting us to dinner.

Bed and Breakfast. I think people who are that age love that kind of thing, I know many people who enjoy it... Good luck
