I am a big believer in letting people do what they wish, but I'll tell you some guys just love being pimped. A provider asking or suggesting gifts is not inherently bad, but it can be in bad taste depending on how it is presented. Should you feel compelled to take a provider presents and such, that's your choice, but if you are of the the belief that it will get you "extras," then, I suspect you could be sold ice water in Antarctica. To providers that choose to do it, I think you understand PT Barnum better than most when he said, “There's a sucker born every minute.”
