Has anyone used Green Dot Visa to pay for Prefferred411. I am concerned as it required a Social Security #, which I won't do.

Has anyone done this?

I think they passed a federal law where you cannot get a prepay cell phone and/or a credit card without giving out this info.  I may be wrong and I'm sure someone can find a loophole, but I find all of that way too exhausting.

If they want you that badly, I think it's too late at that point......

On contrary there are strict FTC regulations on collecting personal data. You can find details on the FTC web on the privacy tab.

Federal government is discouraging companies from personal information.

I saw the Chairman of Green Dot rang the opening bell on Wall St this morning.  Being publicly traded usually keeps companies away from adult industries, so I wonder what the future of Green Dot will look like in this arena.

Just go to a Walmart, get a card and take it to the counter. They'll ask you how much you want to put on it, you run your debit/Visa/whatever and they give you a receipt with a confirmation number on it.

You either call them up and deposit it into whomever's account number, or you pass on the confirmation number to whomever you're sending the funds to. Easy.

I've used it a few times and always found it a pain in the ass! Some providers like a 0/0 up front with it and it is necessary...
