Consider myself a "porn performer" (prolly 2d or 3d tier) and not a "porn star" since I get (fingers crossed) maybe 1 or 2 shoots a year with major producers, and the rest of my performances are trade shoots with other performers or self produced stuff. And in all candor, my on cam stuff is more of a minor revenue stream and to promo what pays the rent (lick lick lick, suck suck suck, ride ride ride, "thanks for the generous donation envelope!").
"Stars" shoot consistently for majors (Aubrey Kate, Riley Reyes, Jessica Drake, Natalie Mars, Morgan Bailey, Siouxsie Q) because they provide good ROI for them. Some of them escort but many do not.
Just the purely subjective opinion of one who suks & fucks both on & off cam.

Two things that constitute for PSE.  It would be the intensity of the session that they would give and whether or not you can find any film on them conducting any acts that would be indicative of an adult performer.  If someone if extremely hedonistic and gives an extremely intense session with a sprinkle of anal then that would constitute PSE.

You're welcome hon.  The "2nd or 3rd tier" thing is an expression I use when potential clients say something like, "so you do porn?" The answer is yes, but I don't want to give them the impression they they'll see me on a bunch of DVD covers. I think its a bad thing to set expectations that you can't meet.  To tie it back to your question, that's why I get a bit queasy when ad platforms do use the "Porn Star" classification.

I would say that she must have been nominated for an AVN award to be considered a porn star.  Otherwise she is just a porn actress or involved in porn.  Anyone can make porn and many guys and girls who do so are not the slightest bit attractive.
