Not sure  if this is a forum for  htis, but I was told by  my Uncle, who "Directed lots of  these old films, that many providers,enhanced their income by making these during the 20's and 30's and 40's.(We've come a long way, baby)  ....I inherited these,  a bunch of  Really,really  Old  Films "(Loops" from the early 20's, and 30' 40's  and I wonder...    Is there any interest or use  for this ? I want to  spend time  transferring  to VHS, and  I am thinking of   burning it to DVD's. Before I go through the trouble I'd like to get opinion!..Thanks!.

As society progresses, those films are going to be little more than historical curiosities.  I would think the majority of people still able to get aroused need something a bit more modern.

If you have someone o can either market your DVD's to a novelty video crowd, or who will co-op it for a historical movie, you may recoup your investment.  Otyherwise, you will basically be making these for your own amusement.

heck, LFP (Hustler, Leg World, etc) would probably pay your some reasonable $ for that (how much, i don't know, but i can find out... i have a friend that works at LFP)

heck, even maybe some grass roots historical preservation society for the erotica may want these for their "library"  (think of a low-brow version of the Smithsonian! LOL)

if nothing else, give them to me!  LOL ... i collect all things 20s (Art Deco furniture, antiques, doo-dads, you name it) ... i'm dead serious, PM me if you want to sell that stuff

and inside a year we'll see a 69-part PBS documentary entitled "Pornocopula Americana" with a bouncy New-Orleans-style strip-jazz soundtrack by Wynton Marsalis and talking-head expert testimony/commentary by Ron Jermey, Larry Flynt, Hugh Hefner, Bob "Caligula" Guccione and a cavalcade of porn legends (too numerous to list, plus i don't want to start a flame war! ;-)

and as an added bonus, long lost (historical) footage of a young underaged Traci Lords getting it on "old-school" with an equally young underaged Buckmister Singleton III

why you'd make millions from the syndication run of it alone, i tells ya!

Dude, you have got me totally confused.  First, you won't stop talking about Britney (yet another mention in this post).  Then, you are revealing that you are an AC/DC fan as well ("Leave this guy alone...he's mine!").  Then, you are coming off as a James Spader type from "Sex, Lies and Videotape" (watching flappers getting it on is your "cup of tea").  Finally, you are a "smut peddler" with conections to LFP...which, of course, surprises no one.

My rodent friend, as MichaelCA so eloquently stated, it is not an easy process to transfer these old films to modern media, and playing them can be damaging to the stock.  I knew there was a market out there for this type of thing, although I would have thought it may be timid for TER guys...guess that just goes to show that for many, there is no such thing as too much.  All I was saying to him is that he could get the best return on his investment by finding a way to have them marketed to someone who would pay a decent amount for them.

The only modern busty blonde I would like to bang is Kate Winslet, thank you, and Sam Mendes took her off the market.  However, while you are over at LFP "big pimpin" with your buddy, I am sure you could dig up one who would give you a mercy fuck.

i'm afraid the phrase "the real singleton" is an oxymoron ... of course, some folks may think the singleton they observe on these boards is a moron, but then they might be getting their morons mixed and oxidized  ;-)

for all you know, i could be a precocious 16-yr-old "Republican Youth" who's a baseball-cap-wearing jock who listens to AC/DC, adores Britney Spears and Busty Blondes(TM) and when not masquerading as a jockster in his highschool, spends his time hacking, phreaking and generating fraudulent credit card #s on his PowerMacG5 in his Mom's basement, in order to sign-on to adult websites and mix it up with the "big boys" ... LOL ... so let's dispense with this notion of the "real singleton" for good

i would guesstimate that an alarmingly high % of what i may have spewed on these boards is an outright LIE (including this sentence) designed to conceal my true identity from "loved ones" and "loathed ones" alike  who may be reading these (unfortunately public) boards ... (call me paranoid, but i know better when it comes to these things ;-)

now that being said ... you all are ~100% correct in believing that this here singleton (the "real one") is a die-cast Liberal, who claims to be a comedy writer for Fox, is a confirmed batchelor, likes skinny flat-chested brunettes, collects Art Deco antiques and generally enjoys being a grade-A  21st-century Machiavellian "prevert"  ;-)

I wasn't quoting an AC/DC song, I was quoting YOU, which, by those words alone, implicated you in some very deviant directions...which at least you picked up in the name of the band, although you are about the only person outside of San Francisco who has focused on that interpretation instead of the Anti-Christ/Devil's Child (or the Anti-Cruz/Davis' Child...my nod to California recalls) one.  Too many posts for you today, Buck-o. :P

Also, as you are a Pumpkins fan, I am sure you knew my reference to "Zero".

Why not search on the net and see if someone buys or sells this stuff.  I know that for commercial porn, you can now search back to the 70s by porn star, subject matter, etc.  There's a really robust market for this stuff.  Don't sell yourself short.

Two things:

First, I suggest you do some looking around for a buyer before selling. There are going to be anumber of people interested, form porn collectors to vitage buffs and old movie collectors. If they are in good condition and there are enough of them auctioning them off might be best. Get a reputible appraisal before going to far aahead.

Two, be really careful with the films themselves. They are pre 60's which means they are on nitro-cellulose stock. Very fragile, easily damaged by heat and vibration. Exposed to enough heat and they may busrt into flame or even explode. The bery reason they switched to safety film. Call the local university film school for a reference for someone that can safely handle and copy these films. You also may get a lead on other interested parties through the film school and its professors.

WOW! Thanks to everyone!!You are all  great in  your responses, and I appreciate it..(And I thought I'd be flamed off this board!)in any case, I got a hold of a 16MM Projector,(I do know about the dangers of old celluloid film) and am transfering them to VHS.
I am not  looking to  get rich on this stuff, why, my old uncle Jack is one of the actors...(The guy with the mask, and black socks..LOL)
