The first type and most common is a simple band or strap designed to go around only the penis. It can be a flat elastic band, a circular band formed from a round elastic material or solid metal. Or it can be a notched leather strap, like a tiny belt. They have to be applied after erection is achieved. They cannot be left on too long due to blood flow restriction. They can keep the penis hard but often the penis loses its erection. In other words it is hard but it sill points at the ground. It can be painful or difficult to remove, especially if the erection gets even firmer.

For all of these reasons I never use this first type anymore.

The second type is much harder to find, so that’s why I make my own. They are designed to go around both the penis and the scrotum. I make mine so the tension can be easily and quickly adjusted after they are applied. They can be applied before erectile stimulation begins. They can be left on much longer than the first type. They can be removed very quickly and painlessly.

How do I make them? I’ll post that detail right after the patent application is applied for.

Seriously though, they are quite simple to make. All that is needed is a length of latex surgical tubing and one or two wooden craft beads. For the tubing, you can experiment with different diameters but the 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch diameter works best. There is thin wall and thick wall. Choose the thin wall. Buy about 2 feet so you can experiment. The correct length depends on your size but start with something between 8 and 12 inches. It can be cut with scissors. The craft bead is a medium sized with a hole size slightly smaller or the same as the tubing. Also needed is some heavy string or thread. Use the thread to pull a loop of the tubing through the bead. Make sure first that the bead has no sharp edges on the inside. Add a second bead if one is too loose. After it’s applied the first time you can cut off excess tubing. I tie a knot in each end to keep the bead from pulling off.

To use it, simply open it up fully and insert “everything” through the hole. Pull on the tubing while pushing on the bead to snug it up just slightly. Now apply the desired stimulation. As a little more erection is achieved tighten the bead more. It helps to pull as much skin over to the “erect” side as possible, especially in the area under the scrotum. This still allows blood to flow into the area, but it restricts the return flow just enough that a harder erection can be achieved. Plus the effect is totally controllable by your adjustments.

1. As you are getting close to cumming, use the pad of your thumb or fingers to press against the nerves for 5-10 seconds while stopping movement.

2. You can learn deep abdominal breathing, where as you inhale, your lower muscles expand, naturally pressing against the nerves. This takes a little while to learn, but once you figure it out, it works great. No side effects. This breathing technique can also balloon out the head of the penis a little.

If you combined either with also clenching the side buttocks muscles periodically, you'll control things better, and not lose much in the way of hardness.

So, cockrings can help with control, but better to go with a looser one that has something on it for the ladies benefit, and use one of the above techniques for your benefit.

Cock rings are fine for a man with an average length or longer cock. For men of smaller stature, I find that they get in the way too much, and can be very annoying.
