The different ones I use are an attempt to be in the mode/mood of the thread.

but different moods. I am at the point that I have so many of them that I have one for almost any topic. If I don't, I will make one.
So, I have mean aliases, nice aliases, stupid aliases, smart aliases, parody aliases, etc. I even have a couple for you (but you already knew that)

Some long term that some may recognize.  Many more fleeting based on current events.

You can pick the one that is right for what you will be doing. Like a costume to help become a character. The greatest actors draw from within, so too with aliases.

Let the freaks post with as many different aliases as they want. Like an all-you-can-alias-buffet.

One time, one post, let it out, let it all out. Let's see what you got!

What do you think, oh spaced one?

I said please.

For those of you that use aliases frequently, do you have different ones for different personalities?  I guess I can't really explain how I use one for replying to stupid people, another for a train wreck, one for rants, one for picking on my co-mod, etc without divulging that all those people are me.  But what I'm getting at is do you have a go to alias for certain events?

For those of you that just insist on bitching about those that use them, don't expect those posts to appear.  Neener, neener, neener.  :)

I have a wide variety of colorful and not so colorful aliases that I use as the occasion requires. The colorful ones allow me to accessorize and match decor. The not so colorful ones are more oriented toward content context.

I have aliases that I use for trolls, aliases that I use for security purposes, and also aliases whose point is to emphasize that I am smarter or prettier or richer than the other girls.

I mean.... what is the POINT of having 3,278 pairs of shoes unless you pick the right one for the right occasion?

And just for the record.... I never said no to Dr. No. LOL (giggle)

Don't want people associating my handle with my posts. If I uncheck the box in the Account Manager, I would probably be one of top posters. Alias gives me a way to fly under the radar and avoid unnecessary attention. And while I am at it, why not have some fun with funny aliases...

Aliases are life savers. The only time I use real handle is when I want to ask for some information - which is almost never.

I have one specificaly that I use for certain posts as the content might say too much about me professionally. Some are for flavor... Some are for one-time effect in the moment (and I re-use them anyway)... Some are for alter egoes...

Anymore, I post much less and the aliases are as much to keep my handle out of the spotlight, now that I am long out of the top ten posters. Most of my alias posts I would make openly, except for this.

its "freshness label" is about to expire.  I have more aliases than I can count.  I make them up for all the reasons the other posters have listed, plus just to play with words.  Many of them are to fuck with a specific poster.  repellent_fucktard, for example, if you get my drift.  If TER was to ban aliases I would probably leave, they are so much fucking fun.  If I spent the time to figure out all the reasons I use them I'd probably never have time to get laid.  I guess most of them are for replying to stupid people, and there are so many on TER it explains my massive alias count.  I think I have more aliases for picking on mods than for any other reason except for picking on Hirogen when he makes his unwanted returns to the boards.
PS:  I know you and GaGa think hiro has his place but I can't help fucking with him.  And, yes, I am HirogensMom. If that blows my cover I could care less.  Most of my aliases have been self-outed.

"Aliases" are the perfect Go-Too for topic relevance, as well as protection FOR & FROM the innocent you may have, or regularly associated with.

For all the sniveling, whining, pantywaisted fucktards who cry foul everytime they see or task one of my "aliases"; Remember these!

1- If it turns argument ad hominem; You likely started it.

2- Don't fuck'n whine like a little girl because you engaged in a war of words without ordanance.

3- Be thankful it's an alias. I afford far more largess than when under registered name.

   You rock LP

I had more more aliases than anyone in the history of TER. (I'm sure that's not true currently).  I love aliases and have long ago come to the realization that anyone that does NOT use an alias is basically dumb.  This site is Googleable and requires no sign in or membership to read the boards. I have a bunch of close friends ( a few who are Mods ) that agree with me.

I have them for all types of different things I get across. Some are meant to be funny, others are a sentence with a question, others about certain topics. Some I won't use to much because they stir the pot way too much (scaremongering). Sometimes I have used them when things were hot with LE (where I live) and I did not my real handle to be found out.

Just striking a balance between outing myself to certain friends vs limiting public exposure, making it hard to track. Also a way to hide from google search of any one particular alias or handle, protecting myself when hell breaks loose.

Another reason is to have fun with the op through expressing it with an alias, but that wouldn't be the primary reason. Not sure if I have a go to alias for everyday posts since it changes, but I do have a go to alias when responding to our inquisitive friend squuezy
and mcdonald lol

Usually I'm mister nice guy. Well, really, I'm pretty much always a nice guy even when using an alias. Still, when I am smashing someone's illusions or the like, I prefer an appropriate alias. Not so much to hide my identity because people who know me can identify me in a jiffy, but more to identify the post's content as coming from a different aspect of my personality than usual.

I have been making up aliases at the spur of the moment to respond to threads. Differeent ones for different purposes. Some do get used over and over. Some are used once. Some I outed. I don't have a hell of a lot yet, but keep adding to the list. I pretty much use them for all the acceptible TER uses.

sometimes to volunteer knowledge in areas that might be a tip off to my real identity, (i.e. tie a date/experience to an out of town business trip), and sometimes to ask a question I don't want associated with my reviews/me as reviewer. But 75% of time no problem with real screen name

and looking polished in front of the public . Have you ever had a fight with yourself for all to see in a manic mode and been caught by one of the mods ? I guess the rule is you can only use one member name per thread but who knows if you don't tell. Oh , God of all that sits in front of you, "The MODERATOR".

I would think a real pissing match between alias persona of some could actually be very funny. Then making everyone guess who it is. Do you fight amongst yourself trying to get attention first or does a specific personality step up to the plate that exactly fits your need. In a moment of horror have you broke the rule and used more than one alias to make a point and wondered if the mod will spank your ass. Well, no one will ever know will they...LOL

I think our next amnesty day should include all these people who have a pocket full of personalities to fight amongst themselves in one long post.

Tisk,Tisk, Tisk  theres no such thing as to much tongue so I wanted to speak up myself. Now i'll put my tail between my legs and move on. Wow I finally have balls just by using an alias

Followme, the patriarch, of the Followme family posted this some time ago, to clear up some questions about aliases.

“The way I see it the term alias AS USED on this board is any name other than the one on your TER birth certificate.
For the purpose of this board The name on your TER birth certificate is your "real name" and any other name you use is an alias
As for me, I suppose, technically, you could say I have numerous aliases, however since the Followme family is so large I allow my cousins and other family members to sign on using my TER log in name then go to their names such as
SantaFollowmeClaus
FatherFollowme
EasterFollowmeBunny
PopeFollowmeLXIX
DrFollowmeOBGYN
RabbiFollowme
Followmeopolis
ClassFollowmeClown
CoachFollowme
to name just a few of my family (there are many others )
So technically these are aliases , however in my case they are all real members of the followme family.
To the best of my knowledge they do behave themselves, I hope !

I hope this clears it all up”

They participate when they can ans as they see fit.

Thank You
XLVI = 4

BTW: LP, nice gesture but, do you really think most people give a shit if you say please or not?

using about 6 or 7 different aliases.  It was on the P&R Board nearly a year ago and I thought since the board was unmoderated you could do anything you wanted.  Then I got banned and learned my lesson.  Admin was kind enough to relent when I explained and promised to never do it again.  But it sure was fun for about 5 minutes.
