OMG, I've never cried so hard in my life. I really think it had a mix of women...some who truly loved this work and some who were forced into it. Nevertheless, it took a lot of courage to do what they did, and I sure as hell would never do the same. I found myself actually putting my hand on the screen like some fkin preacher saying, "You are beautiful, you are special and you are worthy, and it does not have a damn thing to do with men paying you to fk them. You are all that on your own!

Good job ladies and thanks for speaking out, and sharing your lives with the world.  Who knows....30 years from now other women in this business may never have to go through what some of you did, because there will be laws to protect them.

This film is a piece of OUR history...everyone here knows these women either personally or from the internet and reviews. I can see being 80, sitting in my rocking chair on the beach, going "Man, that was a part of my life once."

We, are the only nation in the developed world, where prostitution is mostly illegal -except for NV brothels.

I can just see you in your rocker, surrounded by grandkids who are demanding you tell them one of their favorite stories.  One chimes in, "Grandma!  Tell us about the time you were a whore in Chicago!"
(PS:  this is an actual joke I heard, but, if the shoe fits???)

Yea...another fugly with a string of 10/10's.

Hey...I'll bet Craig will come riding in now.  The entire knights of the round table have been eerily silent.

As a guy, its tuff to admit but yes! I bawled and bawled through an entire box of Kleenex as I watched it.

I know some of these incredible, beautiful and BRAVE souls up front! One in particular is probably one of the most incredible gals I have ever met. She takes on a role as one who will see and bring pleasure to our most maimed war veterans, no matter how not pretty these wounded military heroes appear!

They are all true Classic American Courtesans. In times past, classic cultures would have lauded them. Our Advanced American Culture has a Logic on this half-assed and still from the Puritan Days. I had the distinct honor of befriending a UTR gal from Down Under. She explained the local open, candid culture there in a way that was refreshingly open, honest and accepted!

All these have... Lots of courage, lots of gumption!

London, You don't have to be a preacher... They are beautiful, they are special, they are very caring and they are indeed very worthy as True Blue Human Beings. They have real life issues that the experiences of meeting a varied clientele adds to their magical Aura.

Regardless of the Court Jesters on these boards; I have had the unique wonderful fortune of getting to know many fine ladies, up front and center.  They are far more "Real" than most Uber civvie gals I've dated.

Many of them have become personal friends; some are still in touch even though "retired". One who is not on this cast, no longer within my Orbit, is probably the most incredible beautiful Soul I have ever met, Head, Heart And shoulders above any other gal I ever knew! There are others not far behind.

Hats off to their bravery! Oyez, Oyez, Oyez, Oyez!!!!

Dear Ms. Rayne:
Considering that you have been in the game a while, what made you connect to the women and their stories on American Courtesans? Would you say that it was the human side as well as the emotional connection and affinity they had for one another? Also I am wondering what made you really and truly connect was Kristen's style of interviewing. She was extremely sensitive to the needs of her subjects and she was uniquely qualified to conduct the interviews because of her experiences and the range of settings that she emanated from. Considering that I made the aforementioned statement, I am sure that is something that captivated you because you know that most people aren't as sensitive and as intimate when covering and discussing the life of women who would be in your demimonde.
Finally I really believe that you connected to the story because you got to see the evolution of the women in various parts of their lives as well as the camraderie that some of them had. This was extremely heartfelt for you as you connected to these women on several different levels from courtesan, woman, student and parent. Also when Kirsten disclosed what several of them where doing now also gave further affirmation to yourself that there really is life after this and that you can go on to contribute to society in great ways and also have a wondering personal life in terms of being desirable and functional.
Also early on within the film it gave you an appreciation of  the evolution of the hobby. As pioneers within the game, you saw how much violence and unpredictability most of them had to go through. Also there were typical dysfunctional families but the women where extremely resourceful in attaining there stations in life. In a sense they laid the ground work for you to be successful and they also taught you that drugs and work don't mix because they usually were in dangerous situations. Although most of them didn't go the traditional route, as an educated woman you have an affinity for them because they certainly have PHD's in life. Thus Tamsen Crown is your hero because as she said she made it in spite of the odd's.

Like her, I have never been alone, broke, or abandoned, and I came here just as she did, after having my first degree and getting my SECOND divorce lol. I have empathy for all the others though, because I could never imagine what kind of strength it must have taken to endure abuse countless times, then become an escort. I just felt sad, then at the end...I was happy for each and every one of them.

In this country we love our porn and our providers but we treat the people in it like shit. In a couple of recent on line articles I was reminded of the hypocrisy in our country: The men who had affairs with women not their wives, including a number of providers, seem to get a 2nd, 3rd or 4th chance; the women not so much--a provider seems to be tarred forever so forget a civvie job no matter how many degrees you earn once they find out what she once did.  No matter how many tens of millions of us regularly watch porn (including huge numbers in those red states) Heaven forfend one of those actresses should try to get a regular job thereafter--she's a pariah. Even my SO has commented on how ludicrous this all is as if keeping these women in the shadows doez anyone any good.  Seems to me that we will have made a giant stride in human rights when a professional sex worker can change careers like anyone else.
