and now that I am over fifty, I rarely masturbate.

It takes about three days of "doing without" before I get much of an urge to "rub one out" on my own, fortunately it is a rarity for me to go more than a day or two without the real thing.

I guess I am the opposite of the guys who whack off to porn to the detriment of their "real" sex life. I only have so many orgasms left in me, I hate to waste any of them "whacking off"

Those whose primary mode of sensory input is visual, audio, and kinesthetic. I'm the latter, so porn doesn't do much for me.

I thought the guy in the sweater made a good point at the end of the video.  Masturbation can be very different than sex, in regards to pressure, motion, etc.  So guys might be conditioning their bodies to expect to respond to different stimuli than what they have when they're with a woman.  I remember when I lost my virginity, after too many years of masturbation, and I was actually disappointed with the act itself because it was so different than what I had practiced religiously 'for the event.'  In a sense I had a to cultivate a new kind of appreciation (well, it didn't take very long...).

I've found porn addiction not to be significant in terms of performance, but more in cases where a girlfriend is really turned off by porn itself (knowing its on the harddrive of a shared computer, etc.) and the relationship suffers if the guy isn't able to adjust, i.e. he really has an addiction and won't stop himself/can't hide it successfully.  

Re: faking an orgasm...it's crossed my mind more than once during a long marathon when I just couldn't make it happen and I didn't want to hurt the woman's feelings.  Many don't care, of course, especially in the hobby.

Poverty, alcoholism and disease is getting old.  Porn addiction is a lot sexier.

I watch porn. Not excessively, but as a person who's lived with a lot of excesses my perception might be skewed. In any case, I don't see it as a problem, at least not for the reasons stated on that video clip.

Have I ever faked it - yes. Because I'm so jaded it can sometimes be difficult to get off with a chick who's a little (or WAY) too vanilla. Mish in a dark room ain't gonna do it for me.   Sometimes I have to let the darker areas of my mind go to work to get me there, which doesn't always work.  

I don't see porn as the reason for it, or if it has played any part, it's only a very small part. I'm grounded enough that the lines between fiction and reality don't get blurry for me. But my life, such as it's been, has put me in situations stranger than fiction, sexual encounters not being an exception. So perhaps a lot of the things I see in porn don't seem as far fetched to me as they might for some. By extention - maybe I expect too much from my partners as a result.

I stay away from porn until after I get 1 or 2 pops from a hobby session.  
Porn comes in handy after a session, because I always want to have more pops.

If my hobby budget runs out, then porn is a good deterrent from going overboard your

"I'm tired, don't hold me ... your hands are too cold (winter)".   or "I'm sleepy, don't
wake me up with your boner."

So what are you gonna do with that boner? Porn is the easy way out.  Unless, you get the boy down and wait another 12 hours to schedule for a provider to take care of the lingering boner.

Of course, it is a real problem, but you already would know my view, LG. Given your NMM program, I am guessing I know yours as well. Joy's program actually seems pretty realistic in its treatment of this. Did anyone see the BBC show about chronic masturbators? It was a real cringer, just a documentary about three guys for whom masturbation was pretty much their entire lives. I do not believe that was representative of much of anything, just a freak show, and I could not watch much of it. (I do not get the attraction of public humiliation, either for the people being humiliated of the audience, though I accept this is a minority view). One guy was thrown out by his wife, could not get or keep a job, because he kept ducking out to jerk off. Another guy had two or three inflatable girlfriends who kept him company at home - I think he had names for them and called them his friends - and was looking for a real girl to share this life. Even when he found one who accepted it in concept, the invitation to lunch with his other ladies was a little much to take.

Can't see how you will get a truly representative response here either, as the peer pressure being exerted in this thread already shows.

So I am left speculating about your motive, and I have a guess, but I defer to your wisdom and will keep the speculation to myself.
