This has come up quite a bit lately.

From the risk rates I've seen, it seems there might be a higher likelihood of getting injured or killed in an automobile accident on your way to visit a provider than getting an STD from oral sex with a provider.

A number of people in past threads on this topic have stated strong opinions that sex with civilian dates have a higher risk of STD transmission than sex with providers, especially the highly reviewed providers, since they know how to protect themselves and their clients and many get regular testing.

There are a lot of risks in this hobby. You need to choose which risks you are comfortable with and which ones you are not.

If you're that concerned, just stick with CBJs instead.  Yeah, it won't feel as good, but if it keeps you safe or at least makes you feel safer, it's worth it.  As for DATY, either don't do it at all or use a dental dam.

That being said, a good long look at the reviews and threads on TER would indicate that many men and women are comfortable with the level of risk involved with oral sex.  If you are not I would simply say don't do it.

Is there a risk??? Yes!  Saliva is not a good medium for many stds to live.  Chlamydia, and gonorrhea are passed more easily this way...HPV & throat/mouth cancers....you have to remember who runs some of these media outlets.  This kind of sensationalism and working on peoples fears is nothing new.  There are NO good studies linking the 2.  HPV just happens to be the hot topic now, making it the best subject to use to help abolish all forms of sexual activity, except mish...and then ONLY for procreation.  If there were any hard evidence...you can bet your ass the drug companies would be getting the vaccine approved for males,
Basically...if this is something that concerns you to the point of fear...and you don't want to pass it on to your SO....find a safer hobby...one that won't cause so much anxiety!  Hobbys are supposed to be enjoyable, not stressful

you realize that a search on this topic for TER goes back to the last century.  
I can say though that often after seeing a provider I catch a cold...does that count?

This subject has been covered here ad nauseum.  May I suggest that in the future you try a basic search on the subject before dredging it up AGAIN?

I spent a lot of time searching the CDC website the past several years and there is little evidence to establish even a "medium" risk.

The HPV-DATY link may be a new concern; That story was first posted here several days ago.  

I am one of those without a regular partner who does not worry about the possibility.
