Do civies exist?

Just curious as to who coined the term, "Civie"

I have been contemplating this for a bit~ Because i was once in the U.S. Military and non- Government personnel were called, 'Civilians/ a.k.a Civies"  

   I was wondering how this term came about to refer to non-escorts/ Providers, 'Hobbyists", and the like...  `
So, like Terrilynn once said; something that made me go, hmmmmm"

I think civie ....

...has become a generic term applied to anyone outside a specialized clique. Clearly it originated with the military but has since spread. The world of sex workers is just one of many.

Hmmmmm

Good question.  A quick internet search yielded no one author or originator of the term, but it was likened to a W.C. Fields "double-take" by dictionary.com

The term 'Civvie' in the context of the hobby...

Has always referred to those folks who do not participate...at least as far as we know.  It's origin predates my entry into the game (2004), but it seems to be relatively hobby specific.

Nope. It goes back to military use.  

To me, there is often a connotation of a professional uniform (military; nurse's uniform; hooker uniform [stilettos, pricey lingerie, etc.] that significantly differs from civilian dress

You ought to include some pictures of yourself in uniform

That would tap into many fantasies of my own time in the military.  Seriously, there might be an untapped market there because I can't be the only guy who likes this  :-)
