...every week that shills his adoration to the same provider on her weekly adds & daily theme pix. After 3 -4 weeks, it become a joke in the back channel forum & hurts both the provider & hobbyist cred...worse though for provider, she's the one who losses business.

Another funny thing is, on our regional board, a few hobbyist & providers laugh (back channel) @ the providers who continually click they're own pic...so they have the most clicks on ‘THEIR’ post to show how ‘POPULAR’ they are.  Real obvious when she's about 4 or 5 posts down, never happens; first 2 pix always get the most clicks!

When the ladies post their "Weekly Ads", are we clients thrilled at the opportunity to pile on?
I ask because of all the hoopla over shilling. Is it shilling to comment on a ladies advertisement? Some are claiming yes. I have done it and will continue to do it.

Ladies do you mind if we(the client)make our appreciation heard? I've run across ads that specify "Please refrain from commenting to this ad". WTF!!!

Now to a greater question;

When hobbyists support each other here, some agitants like to claim bro-mancing, while no negativity arises when the ladies shill each other. WHY????? And what of the "Ta-TA days....etc.......why are we(the clients again)enthusiastically falling for this free advertising scheme??? I do!!!!!

EQUALITY I SAY; full speed ahead.

Now i need to try and get some sleep.

Shilling implies that a person has an ulterior motive in expressing their appreciation of a gal.

For example, if the gal were your SO, or a business partner, and you come on like you are just a grateful client, that would be shilling.

99% of the time, guys like myself who write a favorable blurb under a gal's ad are just trying to help out fellow hobbyists and the gal by encouraging people to see her.

One thing that I will freely admit is that I love to help generate business for a traveling gal I like in order to encourage her to visit again.

and laid out in the FAQ:

SHILL THREADS

A Shill Thread is a thread that is started with a post that is praise, thanks, or a recommendation for a certain provider for reasons of self-interest, personal benefit, or out of friendship or loyalty. Starting a new thread with a Shill Post is not allowed by TER because such threads are considered extra "advertising" above and beyond what each provider is allowed each week.

Shill Threads are not allowed, and will be removed.

Mini-Reviews posted according to the Posting Guidelines are not considered to be Shill Posts.

Responses to a current thread that refers to a provider with positive comments about that provider is okay, as long as the comment is pertinent to the topic at hand.

bothers me (thanks Puck for providing the specific rule).

If a gal is really great and you see her regularly, don't you want to make sure she does well?  Of course you do.

When I see a post on my local board asking for suggestions on who to see I almost always do a PM and ask some questions, check out his reviews, etc.  Sometimes I give a referral to a couple of my fav's.

I'm not doing it to "get anything" because I don't, I just do it to keep the lady in business and she'll be there for me.

I think most of us recognize a real shill post when we see it.   I think loyalty to a couple of fav's is a good thing.

Makes your 'loyalty' comment moot. Fawn over your favorites as much as you like - in RESPONSE to one of their ad posts, or in RESPONSE to an ISO post. A shill starts a thread.

Capice?

So just because someone else is really smitten with a provider, that said provider is going to lose business because some people find it amusing?

What has that provider done to facilitate said loss of business? Wouldn't she be the same woman and have the same service if this guy wasn't fawning all over her?

What a narrow mind that would think like that.

Thank you for the clarity in the FAQs because I've seen some lovely "reply" post accused of being shills.

I think we should let AD posts stand on their own. Shilling isn't necessarily a bad thing unless it is over the top. Saying that X is a nice person and provides a great session can be a service, but when hobbyists drone on about how great someone is, it's usually just the opposite. Providers tooting their own horn is to be expected, but I personally dislike ADS that imply a service that is really not offered. I also dislike seeing the same pictures over and over, year after year. In the end, if a lady is really good at what she does, ADS are only a reminder that she still wants company.

your opinions added under my ads. It makes me feel good that there is someone that thought enough of me to make a comment to begin with.

Who cares if someone is shilling? If you don't want to read what they have to say, look at another page or just look at my ad and move on.
