Gents, how do you feel about Google Voice

So I've decided to have my new contact phone through google voice, a service provided by google where they assign me a phone number and the calls are forwarded straight to a phone line of my choosing. When you call it says "Please leave your name Google voice will try to reach..." and then call comes straight through as usual. If I don't answer you can still leave a voicemail. This is very convenient for me as its free and I will be receiving more calls than I make. I also like that you have to say a name because I have a code word on various ads so I will already know who you are and how you found me.

However I'm wondering is the automated voice will freak guys out as opposed to me just answering. Any thoughts?

I would never contact you...google invades your privacy too much and they store all kind of information...

My hobby phone is on for limited time, so it would be hard for you to get back to me anyway. I tend to like email or PM for initial contact.

Record a new greeting, that way no one will know it is a Google number.  What site does not store information nowadays?

a lot of sites store information, but very few have the smarts to "mine" that information for "useful" (read: nefarious) purposes.

I would be VERY careful about using any Google service.   I'm not saying don't use them, but be very careful about using it for anything that may be construed as an illegal activity.

Thanks for asking, ElleJ!  Based on the responses here I'm thinking twice about using Google voice now.  I'm pretty happy with my Bat Phone so I think I'll stick to it.  

And I think it's a good idea that you are upfront about utilizing the service in your ads.
