Alright here's the story:

About a month or so ago i was with my ATF that i've seen at least 2 dozen times, plus some OTC stuff too. We were all hot and heavy, going at it real hard until i came. We just lay there for a minute or so then i get up and notice the condom broke. I tell her and she runs to the bathroom and pees, and then we both jump in the shower. Here's my delima, she calls me and tells me she's pregnant. My initial response was you got to be kidding. Now we haven't sat down and talked about it yet, and i really have know idea where to go from here. I'm definitely older than her and i know we both like each other, but any thoughts would help?

If you are serious, and I hope you are not

There are some things you need to do. To a degree this depends on your situation - if you have a lot to lose if the world were to know that you are screwing providers and made one pregnant, then you should be very careful; if you feel that you have nothing to lose financially, or in terms of your reputation if this comes out, then the following is probably unnecessary.

Do not put anything in writing. It could be used against you later. Ask her to meet you somewhere to talk. The telephone is another alternative, but meeting is preferable.

Give her every opportunity to tell you what is going on, and what she thinks she is going to do, which by extension should make her tell you what she wants you to do. Assume that anything you say may be recorded and used against you, so do not say anything that might confirm that you fucked her or that there is any chance the baby might be yours.

If she presses you to tell her what you think she should do, or what you plan to do, put her off by saying you are in shock, still absorbing all this and have no idea.

There are a lot of things you want to know - is she really pregnant? Does she want to have the kid? What, if anything, does she imagine your involvement in this would be? Does she want money from you? How sure is she that it is your kid? Why doesn't she use any birth control beyond the condom? Why didn't she use a morning after pill? The thing is, the longer you can string her along, just listening and not saying much, the more likely she is to show you her hand. Whether she really is pregnant and needs to deal with it so she can get back to work, or is just trying to work you for a quick score and move on, she is going to want to keep this moving and get to a conclusion quickly, so patience and time are your best tools.

The odds are better that this is a scam than that she really is pregnant with your kid, but both are possible, so you need to get an idea which it is, figure out what you want to do, and what she is going to do.

Or maybe you just made this up for some fun.

Right now all you need to be is supportive. You are allowed to tell her that you would prefer she has an abortion given the circumstances. HOWEVER, you ultimately support whatever decision she makes.

If she wants an abortion- offer to drive her and pay for it. Buy her some chicken noodle soup and breathe a sigh of relief.

If she wants to keep the baby - say I support that decision and we will work things out once we have the paternity results. This is not the time to start paying her rent. Nor is it time to act like a dick . No bullshit about wanting nothing to do with the kid and how it is going to ruin YOUR life.

If you do have a little one on the way, I hope you will step-up and be a father.

For the rest of you idiots - drive the girl to planned parenthood and buy her the morning after pill.

And he has more than a couple of nickels to rub together...his only interest on an opinion should be that of his attorney(s).

BTW...getting someone to actually have liability, let alone collections on a paternity issue are far from simple.

I've had a couple condoms break over past 30+ years and i always wondered what would happen if this scenario ever happened to me. Thanks guys for all the great humor i got out of this and hopefully you did too.
