If this guy did what he alleges he did, Thai jail would not be bad enough.... and if he did not do what he alleges, then he should be kept under custody and receive a "lifetime" of free medical treatment. Let's face it, there was little to nab the guy on, but he needs to be removed from society, for the good of society and for his own good and safety as well.
what a screwed up system we have perverted the Great American Experiment (in democracy) to become. it sickens me, that our own laws and ideals are now so agressively being used against us..... by those within our own society, that for whatever reason cannot see what they throw away.... so sad.
These young ladies that Charles Carl Roberts IV, a 31-year-old truck driver took upon himself the task of killing were so selfless that they volunteered to be murdered, if he would spare the other kids.
Let me ask you this, were he to have survived, what do you think our legal system in all of its magnifigance would have done with him. What wisdom of Solomon would have come from the judges and juries? We have become so jaded that the murder of innocents is just another spectacle on the tube.... and an opportunity for others to gather a bit of spotlight closer to their cause. Witness the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas wanting to go there to disrupt the funerals of innocents to bring attention to "their cause." Where is the civility? where is the justification of bringing their issues and perceived slights to the misery and mourning of innocents?
Civility - is it taught anymore, by anyone? anywhere?
I weep for us as we are lost. and some worry about this hobby! what a laugh, they should be worried about the hate that exists now everywhere....

What I ask for is civility and a way to manage those among us who are far less capable of making good decisions (that is being able to know that to walk into an Amish Schoolroom with the intent to rape and murder is wrong, or on the part of the Baptist church types to interrupt the Amish funers is wrong).
Again, you have taken the desire for an ordered and compasionate society and perverted it. Read my post again. You have missed the point, again. Every time some sicko goes and performs an act of obvious harm on innocents, we mostly wring our hands and wonder what could we have done.... "going postal" is more than a phrase, it is a recognized phenomena, that perhaps has clinical signs and symptoms that can be recognized, treated and maybe even cured.
I would include in these acts, the needless violence supported by many fringe religious elements, individual acts of violence directed at others, and obviously the everyday sociopathic behavior of some of our fearless leaders! So please spare me you sympathies....
Go mourn with the Amish. Go tend to the friend YOU lost on 9-11, and most important, tell me of your anguish of the students killed at Kent State. and so many other needless slaughter of innocents. please.
I think a large part of modern society isn't that we're not will to take responsibility for our actions, to be accountable, to be civil, but our mindset is that we're becoming absolved of everything.
Remember the experiments back in the 60s (I think that was the decade), in which a subject was told to apply an increasing amount of voltage to an unseen person. In, what was it, over 70% of the tests, as long as the subject was told to do it, he or she did it, even when the unseen person begged, pleaded, and screamed in pain, even though that person was never actually hooked up. As long as someone told him or her what do to, the subject didn't feel responsible.
It's what's happening today. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a voice in a person's head, a political leader telling him or her to commit war, or a priest - or God - absolving a person in confession, we're unwilling - or unable - to take responsibility for our actions.
