I looked on Google and didn't find anything. It may have been that the public disgrace was deemed punishment enough and prosecution wasn't pursued.  Just my opinion.

I don't know about how Spitzer used money or what money he used, but he was fried for doing what? Having enjoyable sex with a willing provider.  If he had a girl friend would that have been illegal? How about if his wife hated making love to him but did it after he bought her an expensive gift, would that have been all right? This has been the way it is so we accept it.  No sex except the way we say or we will expose and ruin you.  It used to be that if you married a member of a different race you could be arrested in almost a quarter of the states in the union.  Then, if you were gay, the NYC police would appear at your bar and beat you up and you shut up and slunk home.  How long will this be allowed to go on? (Sorry, but I do feel better now.)

There's too much trouble trying to prosecute a former prosecutor. That is unless it's something important, like larceny or racketeering. For prostitution? Forget it. Really puts it into perspective.

Obviously we're not all public figures, but I was wondering what I'd do if I got busted and my name was in the paper. I'm not well known, but it would be an embarassment at work, for sure.
I don't know if it would be so bad though that I'd have to resign. Maybe my boss would encourage it? I'm sure they couldn't fire me over it. How about some of you? Would you have to resign your job if you got busted and it was in your local newspaper? Would you be fired?

The behavior is embarrassing enough that you may have to resign, but the issue is: Why is this illegal and why is this then made public?  Other embarrassing behavior is not revealed.  (Imagine: George Bush picks his nose and eats it! Barack Obama soils his underwear! John McCain has horrible body odor and pimples on his ass!)  This is only a PUBLIC issue because our society (and most others) has decided that sex is dirty and should only be engaged in with a married partner (except if you're gay and can not get married.  It would apparently make G-d angry if you did.) If you seduce a woman by buying her gifts and trips, etc and you and she are not married, this is all right. Very James Bond like.  If you meet a lovely bright lady and enjoy sex with her by paying her, that is filthy and illegal, and we get to hound you. Phooey.
