Did Kinsey, or someone of that ilk, ever study the incidence of hobbying among adult males?

I'll tell you why I ask – I was sitting in church last Sunday and I got to wondering how many men around me were also hobbyists. That would be a fun mental game to play when bored – "this many people at this concert (or reception, play, or party) are hobbyists even though they certainly don't look like it." But to play the game I need a percentile. Can anyone help?

Same thing with the providers. One would never guess about us. Especialy when we're out with, in my case the grandkids or attending children's functions etc.  We're everywhere!!!

Among the more surprising findings this week has been the revelation that over a 10-year period, the number of men in Britain who have paid for sex has doubled. In 1990, 5.6% of 11,000 men asked said they had paid for sex, but by 2000 the figure was over 9%. The study, published in the journal Sexually Transmitted Infections, suggests that the rising divorce rate, sex tourism and the increasing availability of commercial sex services may all help to explain the rise.

The data is a little hard to read. But that's a nice healthy number.

It's also fascinating if the number is significantly on the rise. Looks like the providers have chosen a growth profession. -;)

you should probably add a few percentage points to the numbers.  In addition, more than a few guys I know have paid $ for sex but don't consider it pay for play.  Example, the Air Force guy who's at a foreign air base, picks up a b-girl at the local bar and after knocking boots places a "few bucks" on the night table as he leaves.  That guy will go to his grave believing he didn't pay for sex but of course he did.

I suspect that you will spot many a hobbiest... but then again... what would I know.  What I do know is that on more than one occasion as I have left an encounter I have spotted the next dude in line.... so - the more you are aware of this life - the more you see.... kinda like other activities.... having kids - once your wife is pregnant - every female seems to be pregnant.... once you are getting a divorce - seems like you meet a number of folks who are getting a divorce.

When I'm out in public, I often wonder about the "hairstyle" below the waist of women I see.  I think it's got to do with that I'm not really supposed to know the answer, and I think that how bushy the bush says something about a lady's viewpoint.

Masters and Johnson and Sher Hite have numbers for this.  However the Internet and TER and Preferred411 have made this a much nicer experience.
