I wouldn't pull a joke on someone I'd just met.

With a provider I'd seen multiple times, I was standing in the bathroom at the mirror, and she was at the door. I turned away from her and pulled a set of the Groucho glasses (glasses, mustache, fake nose) from my case and put them on. When I turned around, she looked at me like I was a freak. I said, "I didn't want anyone to recognize me when I was walking through the lobby, so I wore these."  She cracked up.

Another time with another provider I'd seen more than once, I was down on her for DATY. I paused, pulled her lips apart and said, "well I'll be."  She said, "what?" "There's something in there," I said. "What is it?"  "I don't know," I said, then paused. "It looks like...like..a tiny little nativity scene." That got a laugh.  

But cop jokes? Never.

I've found gals love a guy who can make them giggle.  But cop jokes?  No way.

this is definitely one of them, and I vote for kicking him both out/in the balls, in which ever order she prefers.

A joke is not something that kicks a flash of adrenaline down someone else's spine. Anyone making that kind of aggressive "joke" in that situation is intentionally or unintentionally trying to knock the lady off balance and set the tone that he is in charge.  I work with shit heads like that.

but aside from that there's nothing like a little humor to break the ice.

and I'm not kidding ... should be her reply. Only a dumbass would joke about LE in a hobby setting. That's a quick way to end up on lots of providers DNS (Do Not See) list and rightfully so.
 

The only joke that ever worked for me was when I was adjusting my body on a massage table. She asked, "Are you comfortable?"

I said, " I make a living."

Beyond that, they just don't get my humor.
