If you consider the fact that people post what's on there mind knowing some one some where is going to get good and pissed, and begin a smear campaigne against them it only makes sense to post under an alias. Especially if the post involves warning others of that Jack ass that every group has.If it has value to you it should not matter who or how it was posted.
based solely on the fact that they used an alias. I prefer to focus on the substance of a post. 99.9% of us here are all leading double lives in some way, so what's one more facet to our personas?
that a person can say under an alias that I pay any attention to. OK, that's not entirely true. If the alias seems to be just to pick a funny name that helps make their point, then I will take heed of their words. However, if it's just to hide, then I figure, go ahead and hide and I'll pretend I don't see you.
After all, what kind of community would we have if everyone posted under an alias.
I typically don't have an issue with alias' being used until someone seems to be soliciting my opinion on a matter, however disingenuously, as with the poster two threads down. I typically will not respond to an alias who is inquiring about my personal tastes, habits, or opinions.
I didn't mean to use this alias, and hope it doesn't make you mad enough to attack some she-male. Just to be safe, I alert the tranny board that you might be running amok. LOL
We are all, for the most part, here under an alias anyway. If a person posts something that might be considered controversial or frowned upon, they are likely going to hear about it (positive or negative) from the other members here. If the "alteralias" gets hammered, nobody is going to know who really made the comment, and the person who posted it doesn't get his/her real alias dragged through the mud. It basically boils down to a fear of rejection. However, since everyone is already hiding under an alias, it is sort of silly to hide your alias behind an "alteralias" under those circumstances.
I myself have used an "alteralias" a couple of times, but not to hide myself from backlash pertaining to a potentially controversial post or topic. I've done so for humorous effect; creating another alias to support a comment which would make sense coming from that other alias. The drawback to that is that nobody knows who really posted it, so the community in general won't be able to give me directly the proper credit (or discredit) I deserve. Only I know that I made the comment.
I also just learned that a person can't post under two different aliases in the same thread. I had never attempted that, but it's nice to know that it's not permissable.
