That just shows you why Casinos make so much money.  There are more ways to roll a 7 then any other number.

There was a time when TER claimed that certain acts were necessary for a 10, 9, or perhaps 8 score on performance. Is this still the case? For example, if I review a provider who refuses to do BJ, who refuses to do K (either DF or light), and who refuses to remove her upper clothing, but give her performance a "9", is an editor going to change that? And SHOULD he or she change it?

FBSM only ladies are somewhat different than FS ones.  Performance rating of 6 on FBSM is good and generally speaking, 7 is the highest they should get.  That is totally different from FS ladies where 7 is a passing grade in my book and 6 is a score I would give for a somewhat lackluster service.

1, 2, 3 are performance ratings often reserved for ROBs.  I was actually surprised at how many 5s are out there.

It is hard to draw a clear picture quickly from such a diverse database.  Thanks for giving all of us a rough idea about how it is currently shaped.

Keep up the good work.  (Yes, it is corny; probably not suitable for sophisticated gentleman like you. ;-) )

you start with a 7 for bare minimal GFE and then add 1 for everything beyond: {DFK,BBBJ,etc}. did i get this right?

to answer your question, it appears no such "rule" is being enforced on submitted reviews

"FBSM only ladies are somewhat different...generally speaking, 7 is the highest they should get."

Not true.

If you read the guidelines carefully ( http://theeroticreview.com/reviews/submit.html ), you will see that the extra point system applies only to escorts, not FBSM.  Quoting rule #7:

"An escort provider may only earn up to a 7, unless she also performs..."

Note the "escort" distinction.

Read the following postings and threads and you will find that FBSM ratings can be higher than 7 without extras!

the impression that was the case.  I don't remember whether the guideline has changed since then.

Of the 40+ reviews I have posted, only two was on FBSM ladies.

Most of the reviews I read on FBSM ladies, 7 and 6 are the norm.  Not sure many reviewers of those ladies are aware of the rating guideline with regard to FBSM.

Like almost everything else when measuring performance you will find the evaluation of providers follows a bell curve.

I hope it stays that way.  I hate seeing 9 and 10 performance ratings for a HJTC.

i'm surprised no one (not even Staff) has yet asked why with over 100,000 reviews in the database, this analysis was based only on 11,000+ reviews. not to mention that the total number of samples (for appearance and performance) are off by a handful - shouldn't the sample sizes be the same?

well, perhaps i should clarify. while i can not quite answer the discrepancy in the sample sizes (for appearance/performance) i can answer the main question:

(****) the samples in this study were the # of PROVIDERS (and NOT reviews)  that had *consistent* scores of the respective categories. in other words, the total count for a 7 reflects the number of PROVIDERS (not reviews) that had a consistent ALL-7 ratings in their profile. the analysis by total # of reviews (regardless of providers) would require access to that oh-so-precious database that TER owns and copyrights, which obviously i don't have (don't worry, just give me time -- no just kidding, please don't cancel my membership??? LOL

---

DISCLAIMER: these statistics show the # of PROVIDERS (not total # of reviews) for each score category. furthermore, these were providers that had CONSISTENT scores (all 7s, or all 2s, etc.)

DICUSSION: what does this mean? strictly speaking it's not a direct reflection on how guys give ratings (though it should be correlated indirectly). for that we would need to look at all (reportedly) 100,000+ reviews (and only TER can do that). however, taken as a random sample, this analysis should still be somewhat representative of the ratings structure overall (with some oblique caveats that i think only i care about ;)

FOR MATH-GEEKS: the situation is somewhat muddled since the number of consistent ratings is indicative of how "popular" or "pernicous" a provider is (strangely enough). naturally, the uncertainty (error bars) on each provider's rating (beyond the YMMV factor itself) is inversely proportional to the square root of the number of consistent reviews.
