First time this has happened to me.  I was all set for an appointment with a well reviewed provider.  She sent invite to confirm, then 3 hours before cancelled due illness.  Ok, I can buy any excuse, but I was really looking forward to our time.  Now both our schedules do not allow a reschedule for at least two weeks.   Listen I fully appreciate people get sick, so I can't really fault her...  

That is not okay by any means.

My Plan B is, there's a few assistants I know and who know me well. They are very responsive to requests. So if Plan A falls apart, which has happened, I know I can line up a great alternative quickly. But I only BOOK one at a time. I wouldn't want a provider to do that (double booking) to me, so no way I'd do it to them.

Dude,  I would much rather someone cancel because they are sick, or tired, or had a shitty day, than try to 'make the session work'.  Don't jump to conclusions because she cancelled.

It has helped me a few times already.

I do what AlexandraMilw said. Find out who's available for the day and time I have available and get pre-screened then pick one. If she cancels I'll just try getting ahold of another and hope one is available. Worked last time. Right when my plane landed i get a text saying #1 couldn't make. I immediately sent a text to someone I had contacted before and asked if she was available in a few hours. She was so we met.

I have never had to resort to Plan B, though I could have.  

However, I have had several gals cancel on me within a few hours of the date, or sometimes the day before (usually set up days or weeks in advance).  Part of that I think is that those gals double booked, had better (ie. Multi-hour offers) or were travelling and had other cancellations which made my measly one hour date not worth the trip.  I ain't rich but I'm dependable and pay whats contracted for.  (Only time I ever cancelled was due to illness and high fever and made it up to her the following week. - once in over 25 years).

If they both do not give a shit, it's a win/win. Odds are they are going to also follow suit.

That's what I've done on the few occasions I've been left high and dry.

Don't go and make two wrongs try to be a right.

Years ago I would call someone I had seen, if I was cancelled on right before a session. Now I just go on with the rest of the day. Plan B never seemed to work well, so I just stopped trying.

First of all, I don't make a "plan B".   I don't want to be thinking, or worrying, about anything except our upcoming meeting.   If it does fall through, and that has happened to me a couple of times, I consider it as a positive since I just saved a few bucks that I can now spend on someone more dependable.    

And I won't intrude on anyone's livelihood like that. So if I get stood up, it sucks for me. I've had to cancel or postpone, everybody probably has for some reason, but I've not canceled within 48 hours, this gives the lady reasonable time to fill my time slot.

Personally, I don't need or even want one.   I am sure that all of us have heard some pretty unusual or often times unbelievable ones.  It's fine if one is given, but please be genuine about it.
