the new lifestyles extra sensitive are good with the extra big tip...they were voted to be one of the best by maxim magazine readers. also kimonos are good eseically if one needs a snugger fit. If you are a big guy PLEASE bring your own magnums...we don't always have them and it can make a huge difference in the quality of time...
I like the Durex Ultra Comfort Condom because they are large but offer a better fit for me than the Magnum. A plus is that they aren't marketed like a large condom so I don't have to look like I'm bragging at the checkout counter. I found these by using the "condom wizard" at condommania.com.
I have a feeling that the responses from men will be varied just like we all are in size and shape.
For the larger-but-not-largest gentleman, try Inspirals instead of Magnums...larger head for comfort and sensation, normal body for fit. They work for average gentlemen as well. I use the Condom Wizard at Condomania too!
I definitely prefer to use my own. Any condom reduces the sensation (damn it!) but it's something that has to be lived with...but, for me at least, some are much worse than others--Trojans for example.
I prefer a lightly lubed, non-spermicidal latex. I want a snug fit..one neither too tight or loose. Friction is an important part in producing the best sensation, & improper fit is necessary for that. And on the subject of friction, go lightly on the lube gals--too much is not a good thing at all.
You might want to take a look the safesense.com website..it's about the best I've found. Not only has many different kinds not available in all stores, the prices are usually quite a bit less. But one of the best feature is that it gives the stats on length, width, & thickness of each one.
One thing I might add from my own experience though..even if made from apparently the same material & of the same thickness etc, neither the sensation or the elasticity are necessarily alike. The aforementioned Trojans, Crown Skinless, & Contempo Bareback are all latex, the identical thickness, & very close in length & wide. Crown produces the best sensitivity, but lacks elasticity to the point it can sometimes be difficult to apply without a lot of lube. Trojans don't have that problem, but simply lack sensitivity for whatever reason. Contempo isn't a problem to apply, has more sensitivity than Trojans but not equal to Crown...so I usually have both of the latter two.
Meanwhile the search for perfection must continue....
