Condom Test

Some of you may remember that recently I queried the board about condom preferences.  In the interest of science, I decided to do a little experiment.

First I needed a willing participant.  Fortunately, I found an enthusiastic and exciting companion.

On a recent afternoon, we met, and after a few preliminaries, I asked her to join me in the experiment.  She was all for it.  I asked, if in the ‘heat of battle’ she could tell the difference in condoms and she said no, but also related that she had never done the type of experiment that I proposed.

Now her preference was for the Durex brand, so we started with that one.  Initial plan was to make ten strokes with each one (so much for planning; once inserted the little head took over!)  But I did stop (eventually) to change to the Classic Select by ONE, followed by the Kimono Micro Thin.  Just for completeness, the position used (at her suggestion) was doggie with her kneeling on the bed and me standing next to the bed.  Seemed like a good idea to me.

Results:  We both liked the Classic Select by ONE best for feel, look, sensitivity, and for her, taste (nothing like a bad tasting condom, she says!)
Next was the Durex (not quite as sensitive in my opinion.)
Last was the Kimono, which I thought was too tight and thus did not have as much sensitivity.

Granted this is a subjective test, and much more research needs to be done. I will do my best, and I hope each of you will contribute your experiences.

Maybe you should apply for a grant from the goverment first. Talk about a stimulous package.

There is $330M in STD research or something like that in the stimulus.  I imagine the government might fund such a study.  LOL!  They've been known to do some other silly things with our money.

This is a great place for them to do research...Just think of the condoms all our members use just in one month then multiply by 12..

If there looking to prevent STD with the best protection don't you think our members here could come up with that answere.

How often have you ever read a post here where some one said they caught an STD from a provider..If there is such a post I have never read it and I think if it did happen it would get posted..

First, this was not a randomized test. You need to blindfold the evaluator, and only tell her that this is condom #1.  Then condom #2. etc.

While I like the concept of 10 strokes... I would also suggest that you look at 'time of exposure' as for some condoms, if there is a sticking - you may take longer to achieve the same number of strokes.

What is the effect of lubricant on pleasure- and is one condom enhanced by the use of artificial lube?  (Spit does not count!)

Now, for completness. you should be willing to finish with the condom you start.

As to evaluation - you should place ratings separately for feel, look, sensitivity, taste, and comfort and report these findings as well.  You can then rank and weight each of these marks as to their importance.

It would also help if you had more than one evaluator such that you've enough data to analyze statistically.

Finally, you really should run this test in different sexual acts.... oral, anal, mish, K-9 etc.

Please review your manuscript, and address the editor's comments.  When you've addressed these you may resubmit your manuscript for further review and publication...

Bwahahahaha....

too small of subject sample. :)

require that the experiment be able to be replicated by other scientists to confirm the results.

and perhaps we could get some of that NIH stimulus money?  bwahahaha... perhaps we could list Govenor Spitzer and Pres Clinton as co-investigators... think that would help our chances of a fundable score.????

I was just trying to do my job.  Somewhere around the 14th stroke, the blood rushed from my head, my lab coat came off, the clipboard fell on the floor, and all sense of objectivity went out the window.

Perhaps I'll be able to plan and execute a better test next time (but I doubt it!)

I have received many years of NIH funding so I should be the principal investigator. We need to start with a pilot study before we launch on he full scale controlled trial.  I will volunteer to conduct this study.

The volunteer, well I, must try the different condoms with ten different providers in a clear rotation to do away with order bias.  So, for example, beginning with provider 1, I start with condom 1 then 2 then 3 then 4.  The next day or so I repeat but with a different order.  After 4! (4 factorial = 24) different trials so that every condom is tested in every position in every combination the volunteer, well I, moves to the next provider.  After all ten providers and I have done the 24 combinations, I will report back and we can proceed with the next phase.

Anything for science.

Sorry, but since you are the "Principle Investigator" you are eliminated from the "hands on" portion of the experiment as you will know which condoms are being used.

If you REALLY want to test "feel", then the "hands-on" individuals need to have hearing, smell, and vision masked.

Since many call me blind, dumb, and deaf I'm your perfect "hands-on" test candidate!

then you MUST NOT be the test subject.

i'll be happy to do that for you ;-)

but the skill of the provider can overcome that loathing.

i like the ultra thins by Life Style but perhaps Kimono needs a try.
