How'd ya do?

42% smarter than average. Supposedly.

I'm going away now to wipe my ass with my diplomas.

I believe them to be wrong.

Here's my answers (I promise I haven't looked any of this up yet):
Iraq has been effected by war (I always get the affected from effected rule mixed up)
A Kg is 2.2 pounds
A prime number is divisible only by itself and one (9 is divisible also by 3)
Jesus spoke Aramaic (like in the Mel Gibson movie, BTW)
Hollywood, CA
jklmnop
Jeff Dahmer, the homosexual serial killer, cannibal
Truman dropped the bomb that ended WWII
Afganistan is on the Chinese border (Malaysia is an island and S. Korea is separated from China by N. Korea)
WWII started in Europe in 1939.
Beer is anywhere from 2 to 12% EtOH, but 4-6% is most common
9 squared is 81
Obama was born in Honolulu (unless you're a birther, that is)
Muslims (like Jews) consider port unholy
Ice is methamphetamine
Anachronism  The hint is "chronism"   as to something i time
Pb is the symbol for lead (stands for the Latin plumbum as K is Latin for Kalium and Na for Natrium)
Brazil was colonized by Portugal
Kennedy said we'd be on the moon by the end of the decade 60s)
4.75 times 2 is 5.50
Black Parade:  I have no fucking idea
Pakistanis speak Urdu
Philanthropy is charitable giving
Elvis dies in 1977, when the clothes he was wearing then looked pretty much 70s
Origami is Japanese
Carlsberg beer:  Denmark
Columbus day is today.  He sailed the ocean blue in 1492.
An Evolution is:  I guessed Mitsubishi ; embarrassed that I don't know for sure.
LA to NY is about 2500 frequent flyer miles.

...but I'd like to see what questions were thought to have the wrong answers -- just curious.

But what does it prove ? Maybe if we were given a Stanford-Binet test, all the scores listed here would be wildly different. IQ determination is as "elastic" as are the many tests used to determine "intelligence".

i blame my poor eyesight and the bright font colors for not getting a better score...grrr...

KJ5233163 reads

I only got 20 the first time LOL

it is not a test of intelligence, it is mostly a test of knowledge.

but my weaknesses were definitely in the "street smarts" areas.

How many times did YOU take the test ?-----LOL !

but i am not stupidly vain about being bright. if i were stupidly vain i'd join MENSA or something. ;-)

to qualify for membership.

Nothing stupidly vain about MENSA members.

and i qualify comfortably by 10+ points. it would for personal reasons be stupid for me to exercise my vanity that way: hence stupidly vain. it's a personal choice. the fact that it may be stupidly vain for one, does not make  it stupidly vain for another.

an hypothesis more likely than not: that there are some members of MENSA who _are_ stupidly vain.

now to argue against that without examining the vanity of every member of MENSA one would have to take recourse to a flawed statistical argument: arguing to the individual from the mean of a group. it's an inferential fallacy i find particularly galling. ;-)

Obviously, it is different in different regions.

But in the metro Boston area anyway, there were a seriously disproportionate number of promiscuous women at the time I was involved.

I think it bears exploration just to see what you may find. If your area is like mine and things haven't changed, Mensa get-togethers are a great place to find Minimal to No Strings Attached sex.

Lots and lots of those promiscuous ladies referred to themselves as "polyamorous and bi-affectionate" so threesomes are even a possibility.

They are overwhelmingly leftist, of course. But it isn't hard to do a really good leftist imitation in the interests of getting lucky. Just listen to a few Noam Chomsky speeches and they'll think you are really profound.

(*evil grin*)

Had a chance to join years ago, but assumed that it would be full of egg heads.  Somehow, I'd convinced myself that I was the only really smart guy that wasn't a nerd.  Since then, I've convinced myself that I'm rich, good looking and well endowed.  I suppose that I'm either smart enough to do the convincing, or dumb enough to do the believing.  In any event, I never got off my ass to join, but knowing that the women there are easy could get me off the dime.

You are providing a powerful argument for such. ;-)

My reasons for not trying were two fold:
1) I am a bit of loner who rarely joins anything, but pussy is a powerful motivator and well... here I am.
2) I thought it wise to refrain as a counter to my intellectual arrogance. There are occasional social events I go to as a very bright lady's date. Only then, with several Nobelists in attendance do feel not the brightest lamp in the room.

But loose clever ladies? I say again ('a la mode de Gomer Pyle) Day-yum!

Since I am neither a rightist nor a leftist I can probably pass as "liberal enough". BUT I DRAW THE LINE AT CHOMSKY. He's a fuckin' cretin IMO.

& I will guarantee you that some who claim to be "MENSA eligible" will have to "google" mendacity---------LMAO !

Btw, Tex, if you did so well on the test, how come you didn't give out your score ? :)

I consider myself reasonably erudite, college degree, etc. But, am I MENSA eligible ? No. Neither do I suspect are posters whose mangled syntax & grammar ( among other factors ) would make them ineligible to join that organization, their protestations to the contrary. Imagine-----------lying on a discussion board-----LOL !

There are 2 or so posters who I feel WOULD be MENSA eligible------but, not playing favorites,
best to keep them unnamed------:)

too bad that you are not MENSA eligible. your carefully constructed post which comes out and says nothing while making plausibly deniable implications is interesting in one sense. it reveals more about your personal antipathies and so is interesting from that POV. if the plausibly deniable implications it contains are your actual view, then i think you need a course in remedial epistemology. see more on that below ;-)

to answer your cynical and silly question: i did not give out a test score because i took it carelessly, merely as a lark. my 1st try produced an invalid score that was still in the very high 20s. not valid = not reportable.  not valid because i am keyboard and mouse careless when in recreation mode. i clicked on a wrong answer accidentally. it is just that simple. i was more curious how the software worked. so i did take it repeatedly  to see whether the complimentary text message was hard coded to the score or whether it was quasi-randomly generated. you may wish to Google quasi-random ;-)

now as to your other possible insinuations, implications and so forth: i cheerfully mangle grammar syntax and even spelling here since it is only an internet message board. i don't take it seriously. i will occasionally go back and re-edit a post if it is TOO bad. but i type quickly, carelessly and as long as it is IMO decipherable that's fine. i discover that as i get older and suffer from certain infirmities i have less patience for proof reading.

focus on detail such as that is a personality trait, not an indicator of intelligence. if you've ever looked at facsimiles of the autograph scores of great composers you will see that there is considerable variation in clarity, legibility and afterthought corrections. some are very clear. some are messy. to make an inference from their musical calligraphy to their musical talent is erroneous. it is an understandable error in your thinking. as you say, you are not MENSA eligible.

now, if you are not MENSA eligible then you SHOULD logically and fairly disqualify or recuse yourself from having a valid opinion as to who might be. if your thinking fairly reflects this exchange, then it may show a certain rigidity and stereotyping that limit the validity of your inferences. it is not healthy to be dominated by crude overgeneralizations. let me suggest that you solicit some poster you respect for the course in remedial epistemology that you may so desperately need. ;-) you can overcome your handicap by care and training! good luck with that!

HalfHour

a musical question with the words "Fall Out Boy" in it, automatically is not qualified to judge IQ.

With two of the questions pertaining to it, you're better off being smarting than the average beer.

(My apologies in advance.)

but my weaknesses were definitely in the "street smarts" areas.

not nearly as dumb as I thought

It does nothing to test intelligence; but instead tests some basic math, basic grammar and knowledge of current events.

I was getting a blowjob and drinking a beer at the same time.
That's the only way I got the beer question right. ;)

53 when I filled in an answer I didn't know with an educated guess.  I guess it was right.
