Wear it oh so light don't splash it all over your bod and whatever you do DO NOT put it on the twins.
When I say go light I mean a squirt on your hands
then apply to your chest and back of neck then
put the cap on and step away from the bottle lol!
Once time someone put cologne on the twins and
my skin was read and stung so bad let alone the
aweful flavor . Blech!Go light and don't get something by its name. Go to the counter at Macys.

Ok, so I haven't worn cologne in years. When I did I wore a light scent and made sure to not go overboard with it. I applied it in a manner that someone would have to be close (hugging, kissing, etc.,) to probably even get a sniff of it.
But I stopped wearing it years ago. Just seemed so "80's" to me. Visions of the guy you can smell coming before you see him, adorned with gold chains, shirt open to the chest, etc., filled my head.
I'm getting ready for a first date with a hot, younger, 32 year old here in a few days, and a girl from the office (25 yrs) asked "what cologne are you going to wear"? I said "none"! "I'll go clean and fresh like I do every day". She looked at me like I was nuts. "You gotta wear cologne!".
Guess I just don't much notice guys with cologne anymore. What are your thoughts? Is a light scent applied sparingly still a good thing? I'd almost feel like the "40 year old guy who's lost in the 80's", but maybe I'm out of touch?

I know what smells good and what doesnt. There is even a national certification for this field. (yes, I paid my 150 and was certified)
Without going into too much detail about essential oils, distillation process (there is more than one), body chemistry, 1st, 2nd and third notes....
proper wear of fragrance goes a bit like this...
only on the pulse points, not your clothes. Body heat and oils from your skin at these points is what activates the fragrance..as it mixes with YOU, it becomes your scent.
test drive a few fragrances before you buy it. Wear it for a few hours and see if you like it.
You should NOT smell what you are wearing. if you do, you have on too much.
Fragrances, if chosen with care can enhance any experience. What smells good on one person may not smell good on someone else.
Yes, I could write a whole handbook on this.
Personally? I prefer the smell of Irish Spring soap on a man's skin. lol. That could be because I was a fragrance specialist for so long..and have a very keen sense of smell.
Personal fragrance choices of mine? Depends on the man. If he is a rugged outdoors type person, nothing beats Polo Classic (green bottle). If he likes the finer things in life (aka a snob) then Givency Pi is for him. If anyone is looking to get laid, Armani Acqua Di Gio makes panties drop.

very interesting. thanks for the insight. i usually wear acqua di gio and for the longest time sprayed it on my neck and shirt before i go out. you mentioned pulse points. i'm guessing that's neck and wrists?

if you HAVE to...on your chest.
best way to apply so you dont over do it? spray your finger, dab the pulse point. ONE SPRAY on the chest.
many men like to spray their privates. please keep in mind all fragrance has alcohol in it..which does NOT TASTE GOOD. Alcohol also dries the skin, so spraying the privates may make the skin more fragile....unless you have taken my Men's Skincare class and know what you are doing. Remember, the pulse points radiate heat and body oils, so the alcohol wont dry the skin there.
if you do insist on wearing it on your clothes, (sheesh) then do this...
spray a bit high into the air...and WALK thru the mist of fragrance. that way, your clothes wont reek of the fragrance.

I woud never wear a fragrance for fear of over doing it. To many horror stories of guys that smell like a french whor..... (never mind)

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a shot.
I did pick up some Kenneth Cole "Vintage Black" after smelling about a dozen or so, and walking around the store with a couple on the wrists for a couple hours while shopping.
Did not know the "spray and walk through" technique was bad. Now I do. Seems like awful powerful stuff. Will try the spray on the finger and a couple o' dabs on wrist and neck.

I'm allergic to Old Spice; but this commercial totally kicks ass.
and I take that as a hint that I am to wear same when we get together.
So far, everyone seems happy with that arrangement.

I Love Cologne..
Those that know me know that I sniff people.. Yes, really... I do... I can't help it and if a gentleman wears cologne it really makes my motor run..., walk in in a tie and business suit and it is almost a gurantee you can have anything you want..
i strongly prefer a man wear no cologne as i am very sensitive to fragrances and may have a very embarrassing allergic reaction to it (eyes red and watering, sneezing, etc.). i also think the natural scent of a man can be HIGHLY intoxicating. just YOU, fresh and clean but 100% you, can't be beat imo.
A fresh clean body is good enough for me. There's nothing better than being attracted to someone by their human scent.
If someone is going to wear cologne, can they wear one that tastes good too? Maybe someone can invent a cologne that tastes as good as it smells...yum!
