Email inquiry or phone call or txt... telegraph... whatever.

Think about the most memorable inquiry you have received from someone.

How did the gentlemen introduce himself to you?
Was he being a smartass, witty, funny... or just well mannered?
What was his personality like?  
What was his occupation, if he provided it?

I know that ladies will all name me as their favorite and most memorable but please refrain from divulging my real identity, my privacy is important to me. :D  j/k

On a serious note, I usually keep my intro very simple and concise, just being myself... which is equivalent to being very lame and very goofy. lol  Yet, I almost never reveal my work/occupation/background until I can trust the lady.

I love the thrill of seeing a new email pop up in my email box from a potential suitor! For me, an email that catches my attention is one where the gentleman starts out with a compliment. Whether he is addressing his admiration for my photos, his connection to something I've written on a board or one of my Tweets or just letting me know where he first learned about me, I love the personal touch he initiates contact with. From there I like to know where/when/what time and other logistical details of the date he is interested in. Also somewhere in the body of the email I enjoy knowing a bit about him, his interests and a bit about his life. If all these components are written in an articulate and intelligent manner, generally this is someone I know that I will enjoy meeting and entertaining.

On the flip side, if someone writes me a crass and tacky email, full of bad grammar, spelling mistakes and horrible punctuation and presents himself as the total opposite of a gentleman, then you can be sure that his email is going to get deleted right away.

Seriously, that's an insightful post.  
A brief complement, a connection, a personal touch, appointment, a bit about him, his interests life.  Contains all the important info, gets down to business fast, yet includes some info.

Certainly beats a one line text message "greek?" asking if a lady does greek. I read about this on a local board somewhere and thought it was hilarious.

I received this email back in 2007. I was so touched that I saved it all these years. In person the client was every bit as courtly as his email and he remains one of my most regular clients.

I was like, Really?? He broke 2 of my "rules" which are clearly stated in my ads and website: 1- No Texts, and (more importantly) 2- No Stupid Questions!
So of course he is now on my blocked list. Not that I don't enjoy greek, in fact I am quite into it! But that is NOT the proper way of going about finding out if you can get into my backdoor or not. LOL
