New drug in Schools...

Please pass this on even if you do not have kids in school. Parernts should know about this killer drug.  Grandparents, send it to your families and friends.

This is a new drug known as 'strawberry quick '. There is a very scary thing going on in the schools right now that we all need to be aware of.  There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry pop rocks (the candy that sizzles and 'pops' in your mouth). It also smells like strawberry and it is being handed out to kids in school yards. They are calling it strawberry meth or strawberry quick.
Kids are ingesting this thinkin g that it is candy and being rushed off to the hospital in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange.
Please instruct your children not to accept candy from strangers and even not to accept candy that looks like this from a friend (who may
have been given it and believed it is candy) and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc. immediately.  Pass this email on to as many people as you can (even if they don't
have kids) so that we can raise awareness and hopefully prevent any tragedies from occurring.

It's not quite the panic situation that the posting tends to make it seem like.

I've two kids in the targeted age range.  Do you honestly think that underplaying this is good?

Simply put, I don't want to outlive my kids.

If there is any element of truth to this, I need to be alerted... my kids have already been exposed to much - SUICIDE, DRUGS, SEX, MUTILATION, GRAND THEFT, RAPE.  

AGES?  11 and 14  and they are in fairly affluent neighborhoods... with a highly educated populace.... but know what?  most of the parents are absent.  My ex and I work hard, to  provide supervision, and appropriate adult oversight... yea, sometimes things slip - and I hope that we've instilled some fear and respect for things that will harm... or kill ya.

you see, I really don't care what some internet site says, I actually do know that this kind of stuff is out there... why?  cause it started in the 60s... when I was in HS and College....  Want the list of drugs that are peddled as candy to kids still in elementary schools??? got enought hard disc space... yeesh... I appreciate the reminder... the threat is real.

As I have said in other posts, work in the emergency room in ANY major city, on a Saturday night, your eyes will be opened.  In only a few short hours, you will see more examples of the stupidity and ignorance of the human race that you can possibly imagine or dream up.  Know what one of my previous saddest duties was?  Differential diagnosis... from Osteogenesis Imperfecta and child abuse (the X-rays are similar) but then there are those cases.... where the diagnosis is BOTH....  what we do to or allow to happen to the most helpless and trusting of us, our kids, sickens me...

There are other myths and rumors out there about kids... that are all "Debunked" by "Experts" who oddly enough have no kids.  Go figure.

I have more than 3x the kids you have Bizz and mine are all home schooled so they are not in the public space as often.

I have a plea with my kids that if they see illegal activity that they let me know where, when and who.  I do not know if they tell me every single one, but I have at least one of them tell me something at least once a month.  I then look into it myself and I am amazed at the where, when and who most of the time!

The Where: I have seen it in scouting, school areas, parks, beaches, public offices, government buildings, you name it!

The When:  During and after school, during and after scouting events, parks and beach day and night, in public and government offices during business hours and after(once even in a court room) it is truly amazing!

The Who: nobody is axempt, police officers, teachers, scouting leaders and parents, neighbors and people of all ages.  I have seen kids as young as 6-7 dealing...they are giving it away and then some older people follow up with the distribution.

So I agree, just let your kids know and as a parent i want to know if there is anything new out there that can be decieving to the kids out there.

I've already passed this web link to my ex.  She and I both will chat with our kids... the article is a pretty good one - providing the signs and symptoms of a newly acquired drug habit... I remember as a kid, when LSD was first out there, it was offered on a wide variety of candies - such as the little hard candy "dots" that were on wax paper... this is just too close to that for me to ignore.

Mine (11 y.o.) told me a joke that about made me blush.  I'd share it, but I'm a little concerned that he'd see it here and out me
