cannot relate whatsoever

it is interesting to me to read other providers saying how accurate they find the "Belle" character to be. it just reminds me how drastically different i am, how i don't quite fit into this "hobby."

Belle is first and foremost a businesswoman. she does what she does for the money, period. she doesn't screen her clients for personality or compatibility, she doesn't develop intimate relationships with them, she doesn't seem to respect them for the most part. she very much leads a double life, and the mental switch between the two is very taxing to her. she does not feel that she can maintain a solid romantic relationship with a man while she is an escort.

these are just a few of the ways in which i cannot relate to "Belle." i am not in this for money, for me money serves as an emotional boundary, helping to prevent feelings from getting out of line. i am in this to serve men who are in need, in need of the unique companionship, attention, affection and kinship i can provide. i diligently screen not just for safety but for compatibility. i take a good deal of time getting to know potential clients before ever arranging a meeting. i have a very intimate relationship with most of my clients, very personal and intense. i want to get to know the real them, and allow them to get to know the real me. i lead no double life. i am in a happy marriage with a man who loves the fact that i serve deserving men the way i do.

so no, i do not find "Diary of a call girl" to be at all accurate, but then i am not the typical provider.

by now many of you have undoubtedly seen the h b o series "dairy of a call girl".My question for the ladies is, what do you think? Is it a realistic representation of your issues in the hobby? What would you add that would make it more so in your experience. From a"hobbyiest" point of view, it just seems to me that  in general, her clients are clueless and cold- while her male friends all seem too clinging. I'm reminded of the Sheryll Crowe line " Are you strong enough to be my man?"

I agree with your assessment of the show. I watched the first couple of episodes and grew tired of it quickly.

I am sure many providers and countless manginas will appreciate the show, but count me out. I might add that I don't find it realistic at all, it's just like the network shows that depict all men as clueless, and all the women as underappreciated "true head of the household", BORING

Like most 2nd seasons and beyond the writing loses it edge. I haven't seen it this year, but read a few reviews and I guess it has  started to wax insanely about the real woman and the call girl book she wrote. I think the OP meant Showtime, BTW.  If you read the wikis, some of them are interesting in that the lady's life that inspired the show was very good at what she did, albeit not a real looker.

I don't have TV -- but saw part of an episode while visiting a friend. Within 20 minutes I was disgusted.

And I agree with your assessment of the way men are too often depicted on TV. Bumbling, moronic, incapable and -- naturally -- unable to properly dress without the aid of a homosexual. And the women are confident, intelligent, capable, etc.

What crap. It just reconfirms why there is no TV in the house.

I watch shows that pretend to portry the biomedical industry and lemme tell ya, it is not that quick, nor that easy.  What they do is try to create a composit, and while that is the goal, no one lives the composit... ever.  I mean, we're suppposed to have 2.3 kids.... but who has 3/10ths of a kid????

I find the real substance of life, and the folks who populate it far more interesting.... with one exception... "two and a half men"  I mean, this IS Charlie Sheen's actual life... well, except that emilio estevez does not live with him....

but lets face it, even the worst provider has more dimensions to her that it would be possible to portray on TV.

Yes, it is very close to the real thing... the writers must really listen to her...

I guess I have grown jaded in many ways about how providers as we know them and hobbyists are depicted in movies and especially in Breaking News on any channel and the non-investigative reporting that goes on.

After the two viewings I faded away with no interest.

It's interesting but not groundbreaking entertainment by any stretch. I watch it on Comcast's "on demand" the way I watch most television.  Of course, the hobby is legal over there so there is one huge aspect of the job and the life that isn't covered. Still, I find the whole "double life" aspect of it interesting.

I purchased the first series on DVD. It is very accurate. Belle's issues, from safety, scheduling, meeting clients, and being independant versus working with an agency, are all very accurate.

you have to take into concideration this is the U.S. and this all took place on England where there is no fear of arrest or prosecution. I hate to say it ( cause I wish it didn't...) but that puts a whole nother spin on things. ya know what I mean????
I have kinda sorta seen one maybe 2 episodes but I read the book. It's a different world from what we deal witg in many ways.

Every time you post I find it so refreshing.  It's like the fog of a lifetime of male/female game playing has been lifted and suddenly I can see how things could be- should be.

If there were ever an escort whose book I'd like to read, it would be yours, not Belle's.

G2340 reads

you are the only woman I can think of that actually knows herself well enough that you can give me a reason why I would want to see you.

You don't use the same 8 or 9, overused adjectives describing your physical attributes that everyone else does.  Instead, you describe the experience of being with you and what a unique, immersive experience it would be.  I have enjoyed that on rare occasions in my personal life, but never with an escort.  I find the mere possibility of it's existence with you to be incredibly appealing.

Ladies of TER reading this, please take note.  Until you understand yourself and your sexuality well enough to know what makes you unique, you're just offering a commodity- the same commodity as every other woman on this board.  Maybe that's OK with you, but the bait you use (in marketing, as well as in life) determines what you attract.

Take another look at your ad and see if it really says anything special about you, or are you just describing the same tits and ass every other woman has.  You are all unique, but we'd never know it based on your ads.  This may be enough for most of the guys on this board who live in a world of superficiality, but if you want to attract the men who take sex seriously, you need to rethink who you are and the experience you offer.  Otherwise, you're just the flavor of the day in a revolving door world of meaningless clients.

Lilli knows who she is and whom she seeks to attract as clients.  There's no desire to offer a one-size-fits-all service.  Rather, she wants the time she spends with someone to be as meaningful and worthwhile for her as it is for the men she sees.  When you reframe the provider/client relationship in those terms, then you can truly call yourself elite- and maybe even use some of those other adjectives everybody throws about.  Until then, however, you're just trapped in commodity hell.

and continue to do her, to the exception of all others and try to refrain from putting up shit like this.

"the only woman I can think of that actually knows herself well enough that you can give me a reason why I would want to see you."? That is so moronic.

"same tits and ass every other woman has." Brilliant.

"This may be enough for most of the guys on this board who live in a world of superficiality,"? You could have gone all night and not said something as stupid as that.

"Until then, however, you're just trapped in commodity hell." ha purely laughable dude.

Seems like you could come up with better prose that does not wind up being a bashing post to all other providers and hobbyist with the exception of almighty you and her. This is not a negative opinion of her, but of you and the opinions you have.

Either that or he is the Mangina to beat all Manginas. lol

I like Lili as well, but sheesh, talk about cheesy. Do any women, especially providers, really respond to bullshit heaped that high?

It's become the TER locker room and just about as intelligent.

When I started posting on TER in 2000, there were some gentlemen here with brains, experience, and insight.

Now there are people calling each other names like school children. Nicely done you guys, you can all be proud!

You can have your board back.

that choice is yours. But if you put up stuff like that, peeps are going to push back at what they do not like to here. That's what discussions are for.

GaGambler272 reads

then you are every bit the sap that I accused you (jokingly) of being.

Anybody writing a post that sappy and saccharin sweet is going to get fucked with, even on a board filled with manginas. If you can't take the little bit of ribbing we gave you, than maybe this board isn't for you......Your choice, and your loss.

You should have seen all the flack that Smarty got here just a few weeks back, he doesn't appear to be any the worse for wear.

go hard or go home is what i say.

you cant hang with the big kids..get out the sandbx. lol.

But, being the friendly and fucktard dual personality, I learned quickly ya have to give as good as ya get on this board and take no prisoners. When I fuck up, I man up, but also move on. You can take your shots at me. Just sayin….

lmao

Besides Khym is my back up... try fuckin with her

GaGambler243 reads

Oh I see, you said "fuckin WITH her", I like my version better. lmao

Taking your lumps every once in a while for a stupid post goes with the teritory. Especially when you are guilty of "posting under the influence" like some of us do. lol

Some of the wussie little fucktards that post here would be better suited at a church social. Even there they would probably get there feelings hurt.

There’s nothing wrong with trading in commodities but not everyone wants to do that.

His post was well written, thoughtful, insightful and pretty much the opposite of every adjective you included except for one -brillant. After reading it, it made me go back to see who the lady is that can provoke such a powerful reaction merely by her posts.

Well, said G2, and don't be offended by the few remaining dinosaurs from the TERassic period.

...i am sure other providers know what they are doing. for most, it is healthier and more beneficial to them to retain a professional distance from their clients. and significantly, this truly is a business for most providers...for some, an extremely lucrative business. they are working to attain a level of financial comfort and security, the hobby is a means to a materialistic end for them. therefore, the way they approach the hobby and the nature of the relationships developed within it are going to be very different from someone like me. to be honest, i have plenty of admiration for the women, many of whom contribute here on TER, who are able to treat the "business" of sex in this manner.

i know that i personally just do not have the emotional or psychological make-up to detach myself in such a way, and my hippie-esque lack of concern about material gain doesn't help, lol.

the reality is, the majority of men who pursue the hobby are not looking for someone like me. they are not looking for a long-term relationship, they are not looking for intimacy, they are not looking to let someone IN, to expose the deepest, darkest, hungriest, most true part of themselves to someone. most are looking for no muss/no fuss NSA fucking and sucking. and even when glimmers of real connections are formed, they are expected to be transient and fleeting.

so, from a business perspective, it only makes sense to market oneself to this larger audience. one will hardly become rich following my methodology to this hobby. but i cannot help my nature, so for me there is no other way.

If I wanted to make a soul to soul connection with you, I would DATE you. I don't want to look into your eyes and plumb the depths of your soul. I want to f/k the ever loving shit out of, pop off a couple of spectacular orgasms myself (don't worry if you aren't talented in that department, my orgasms are my responsibility, and I always make sure I get one or two), and then go our separate ways.

Lilli's reasons for escorting are her reasons. She is correct that she doesn't fit the typical mold, but she fits perfectly what her desires and intentions are, and I am certain the men who see her are gratified by their experience because of it.

But fella, don't ask or expect the rest of us to fit what YOUR idea of the perfect escort is. My philosophy is not Lilli's philosophy. I don't even know what you are trying to say with "If I want to attract the men who take sex seriously". Taking sex seriously - what is that? I take it damned serious. Its why I do what I do.

Tell you what, book Lilli and see her to your heart's content. But frankly, if I want to listen to a sermon, I will bestir myself next Sunday and take my wayward ass to church.

Just sayin...

can ever say to the boss, "Hey, I'm taking the afternoon off to get laid."  We have to keep secrets as well.

I related a lot more to the original blog/book, though. That's TV for ya.

Will keep watching, though, even if it gets completely off the wall, because Billie Piper? OMGHOT.

Seen a couple episodes because one provider friend likes to watch.  She has invited me over to watch.

From her comments I'd guess she sees a third of the situations as matching her experiences, a third she can imagine might be realistic for a different/different type of provider, and a third purt TV fiction.

I don't have a wide enough base to compair as my friend does but that sounds about right to me also.

If you want the real scoop from real "call girls," I highly recommend Twitter! There are a ton of providers that have Twitter "diaries" more interesting than anything you'll see on Showtime...

I've never seen a full episode. I caught one snippet where the girl greets a man, receives the donation and excuses herself, then casually placed a call to someone telling them her next guest had arrived. While on the phone, she used a pen to verify that the bills were all genuine, swapped a few jokes with her caller, then went back to the gentleman. She then straddled him, asked him what he wanted, and began to do her thing.

Frankly, I was pretty unimpressed. I couldn't help but think "UGH, I hope that isn't how most ladies are". Very sterile, very businesslike, very tacky were my thoughts. But then again, I saw only that small tidbit. Perhaps she redeemed herself in later episodes :)

...but that's to be expected. It's TV, home of facades and illusions of all sorts. But I did read the book. And although it's quite different because of her locale, as a newbie I found alot of great advise within.

that is just me.

Everyone approaches this industry differently.

Shows and books are great, but i feel there is no way they can be accurate.

However, there are some out there who take all media propoganda to heart and assume all providers are alike...or some ladies think all guys are alike.

I simply can not stand generalization. However, I will admit it is interesting enough to watch a few episodes. However, I live this lifestyle, 24/7 as do others.

I saw the scene Sins was talking about..and just shook my head. Yes, this is a business, yadda yadda..but to be that cold and sterile..ha! Real life doesnt happen that smoothly. You have your hagglers and all the other crap we providers have to deal with. Besides...who the hell is a call girl anymore when most use emails as correspondence? Prepaid cell phone minutes are not cheap ya know. lol. Thats the reality of things..if one wants to go there. However, i tend to like the fantasy i portray....and will keep it at that.

If anyone wants to know what really goes on...read a provider's blog. There are plenty out there.
