Can you see the ID of a Verizon wireless caller?

This topic belongs here because I've run into trouble with people not being able to see my name on caller ID when I use my cell phone.  I'm using Virgin Mobile and I'm not much of a cell phone user but I'm thinking I need to upgrade.  Verizon and T-mobile are the two obvious candidates for a switch but T-mobile has essentially abandoned central Iowa (I shit you not) which sucks because I know that T-mobile's service lets callees see the caller's caller ID.  I asked Virgin Mobile about the issue and their reply was that it's the local phone company's fault.

In particular, anyone tried Verizon pay as you go?  The J.D. Power ratings for Verizon's pay as you go service are rather abysmal.  I can afford the full Verizon service, it's just that I don't use cell phones that much (My $16 every 90 days for Virgin Mobile is mostly wasted money.)

Unless specifically blocked by the user, ALL phones broadcast caller id information.  If it's not displayed at the other end, it is because THAT telecom provider either does not offer CallerID or they have not paid to update their lists with other carriers.

I have Verizon and all it shows is the number, not my name.

I have Verizon on my civie cell and it shows the number of the caller, unless blocked of course.  I have to enter a name to go with the number manually.

I use a tracfone for hobby only (works great in my location), since discretion is important to me.

You enter their name and number as one of your contacts. Then if they call you from that phone, their name shows up as the calling party.

I picked one up at Best Buy and haven't had anyone claim there to be a problem with caller ID number only, who wants their name to show up?  My other phone with ATT/Cingular transmits phone number and name.

Quality of reception is another matter.  Seems to be very choppy except when the reception is perfect (all 5 bars on the meter).

Also, the mic on the phone sucks, so I got an earbud & mic which plugs in.  That helps some.

I have Verizon and a block on my phone number and when I want to unblock that is how I do it. I believe it will work for you so before you change phones try it.  *82 the number you want to call.  mine would be *824072638863
