When I first started hobbying 15 years ago I used a burner phone, but I eventually ditched it and started using my personal phone. Now I'm regretting that and I'm strongly considering going back to a burner or getting a burner app. . My concern is that all of the independent providers, agencies and AAMPs that have verified me know me by my current phone number. As far as I know, that's how they identify me. If I switch to a new phone number, how will they recognize me? . I realize I could text them from my existing number to give them a head's up that moving forward I'll be using a new number... but would that seem weird or suspicious to them? Would some see it as a red flag and block me? Or would they require me to be verified all over again? . Anyone else ever change phone numbers after being established have any advice for me? Thanks.
I have used Google Voice since they came out with it.. Prior to that I was using burner phone. No need for that anymore.
And since I am single with no kids and self employed, I don't give two shits if anyone finds out that I see sex workers. What are they going to do? LOL.. Also LE is getting lax about prostitution related busts every day and refusing to prosecute.
Unless you are into sick shit like underage girls, I'd just get yourself a Google Voice. You will have to tell your HOs and Pimps your new number and correlate it with old number so they can update their records..
Say.. Yo biatch.. My old number was XXXXXX. Update yo record with new number which is XXXXXX.. Peace out girl.. WORD !
I switched over to Google voice a couple of years ago. I just called my favorites and told them I had switched over. I found it interesting that a couple of them said "smart move" or something to that effect.
The only downside is that savvy users can tell it's a GV number and can reject the call. I'm not sure how they do that, but I read about it during sign-up and didn't really care. Another time, I had one ask me to read them my phone number and I couldn't remember it...Doh!
Download any number of apps that give you a separate number. I've been using an app called Text App. It's for both texting and voice. But, 99.9% I use text only. Easy to delete text afterward and it's extremely cheap. Also, I use it for buying stuff online so I don't get spam calls.
The use of Google Voice. I have been using it for around 3 years now and it works fine for my needs, I never really got into the whole burner phone thing, just my luck I'd lose it or leave it on and get a phone call in the middle of the night. There are some providers who don't allow internet numbers for whatever reasons, but for the most-part I haven't had any issues scheduling with it. A word of advice though, delete the app after using it if you have a SO or allow your kids to play on your phone. You can easily download it again and pick up where you left off.
In the 15 years that I've been doing this, I've never called a provider or agency booker and had a voice conversation. 95% of the time I arrange things through text messages (the remaining 5% of the time I use email).
With that in mind, if I download a burner app, I'll use it exclusively for texts, not calls or voicemail. Does Google Voice have a text function? If not, is there another app I should consider?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice and recommendations.
