A provider, who I have been seeing for over a year, and I wanted to see a local attraction to which I agreed to take her.  I had to make other arrangements to do so, including inventing an excuse for my ball and chain.  Scheduled an appointment with her earlier in the week after which we had lunch and talked about the attraction and that she would be picked up by 9 am and returned by 3 pm so that she could honor a commitment.  Last night we talked and confirm the arrangements, including time and what we planned on doing.  She asked me to call her to let her know I was on my way.

I called this morning to let her know I was on my way when she said she couldn't go as a client called her at 9 pm and scheduled a 1 pm appointment for today.

Should I have been upset with her for cancelling and taking an appointment with a client.  She apologized and asked if we go during the week which I can't.

You have every right to be upset since you planned this event and wanted it to happen but you should not be surprised. Expecting her to forgo income for Off-the-clock fun time is not realistic.

She should have contacted you last night by email or text as soon as she knew she wasn't going to be available today.

She made a prior committment to you & should have honored it; only legit. excuses for cancelling are illness or an emergency, NOT flaking on you. VERY rude & inconsiderate. To me, one of the marks of a good provider is reliablility, which this babe doesn't have in spades. If it were me, I would never see her again, but that's me.

From your post, it sounds like you had a date but not a paid appointment.  If you had paid for her time for the 6 hours that you were taking her to the attraction, then you are right in being upset.  But if she was going as a friend and off-the-clock, then she has every right to cancel on you if she decides to.  However, I will say that I have had ladies blow off guys when they are doing off-the-clock stuff with me.  They realize that it is important to keep me happy.  Doesn't sound like this lady wants to keep you that happy.  So just swallow it and remember that she needs to earn money for her time.

every right to be upset...and that's putting it mildly...I would have been pissed...it's one thing to be used...lol...because there is passion and pleasure and sooo much Fun to be followed....however it is another thing to be taking advantage of...she isn't showing You any respect...it was wrong and had that been done to me...I personally would write off the person...after seeing someone for so long and having a committment and to be blown off like that...well as the old saying goes...Action speaks a lot louder than Words...and she spoke both...Loud and Clear :(

Which I am sure others will disagree with.

When she made a commitment to go with you, she should have made herself unavailable for anything else.

Yes, we are here to make money, and since I don't know her, or her personal circumstances.. I cannot say there were not valid reasons in her mind why the 'paid' appointment should take precedence. We have all been in tight spots, myself included. But in situations like that, I have said to a friend.. I would love to go, but I need to work.

Once a timeslot has been reserved, either for a doctor's appointment, to meet my best friend to watch a movie, some off the clock time with a repeat friend, or a paid appointment... No amount of 'someone else's' money should take priority.

Your question is: should you be upset? I don't think you should be upset for long, she consciously chose the paid appointment to the exclusion of your repeat business and friendship. Be grateful that you now know her priorities and a bit more about her character. It could happen to anyone... a short notice cancellation always sucks. She should make it up to you with more than an apology if she wants to make things right.

(My answer is based solely on the information you provided.)

If you had made the arrangements to pay her for the extended appt to see the attraction, then yes, you should be very upset.

If you had planned on it being a friendly thing, then no you shouldn't be upset.  Appts can happen last minute and in today's economy, sometimes you have to take what you can get when you can get it.

Professionally inappropriate to take an appointment with another client after having made plans with you, particularly when those plans required you adjusting your schedule.  Breaking plans after confirmation is especially egregious.

As a service professional you can do whatever you want - but you better be ready to back it up and make serious amends when you inconvenience a client, especially a regular who demonstrates this kind of continued interest, kindness and consideration.

If I had the nerve to do something like that I would likely extend an off-the-clock appointment or an extended appointment for a single hour depending upon the circumstances and how he reacted to the situation.

She's a nurse and get's called in at a moments notice for overtime. She makes $40/hour which is a whole lot of money for her. I understand the choice she has to make. Now I haver never cancelled on her even though a gentleman will call wanting to see me. "Why you ask ?" She works a 40 hour a week job and is married so her time is hard to come by while I have a very flexable life .

Should you be upset ?

Yes : it is disrespecful to tie someones time up like that without trying to cancel. Was there a way for her to reach you or leave a message safely and would you have gotten it in time ?

No: As I just said one of my best girlfriends does this to me at least twice a month. Friends are suppose to understand these things and put there feelings aside for the good of the person who needs to cancel. She was giving you off the clock time ? Did you say you were friends ?

I have no intentions of ending my friendship with my girlfriend over a little lost time as I value her so much more than that.

Kisses Haley

I can understand why you'd be upset, as you went to a lot of trouble to make it happen.

Maybe it's nothing, but what exactly does "to which I agreed to taker her" mean?

Did she ask you to take her? Did you mention it to her, and when she expressed interest in seeing it (whether or not it was with you), you offered to take her?

Like I said, maybe it's nothing, but I was just curious.

Some better communication on her part I think would have been in order. From what I got from your post, your intended outing was off the clock, and agreed to because whatever the event, it was something you both wanted to do. Nothing at all wrong with that, I have on more than one ocassion gone to dinner off the clock, gone to a concert off the clock, and things of that nature. One of my favorite regulars rides a Harley, and at least 2 or 3 times through the summer we'll hop on his bike and just spend the day riding.

The thing is, when I agree to do something off the clock like spend the day riding, or go to a concert, I do so knowing that I am giving up the income I could have earned by working. This is where the communication comes in. Perhaps her finances are tight, and she can't afford to give up the income from working. If that is the case, she should have been more upfront with you and either simply said no altogether, or at the very least let you know that if she got a booking she would have to take it rather than spend the time with you. Then you could have chosen to decline rather than be kept dangling only to have her cancel at the last minute. Telling you after the fact is just bad communication.

She wanted to go to the event, you agreed to take her, you discussed the arrangements, etc.  If that isn't a commitment I don't know what is.  Whether it's on the clock or off is irrelevant -- she agreed to it, apparently enthusiastically because it was in response to something she herself wanted.  If she didn't want to forego a possible appointment she should have said so upfront and any prudent man would have said, let's try again some other time.
This isn't diffiuclt.  She owes you more than an apology, or you should move on.

She should have honored her commitment. Paid or not. Some say she should take an appointment when she can get it. Fine. AFTER the date she made with the guy to see this attraction she so badly wanted to see and he jumped thru hoops to make it happen. WTF?!!!

If I was him, I wouldn't see her again. Fucking flake. She even knew at 9pm the night before she wouldn't make it and still let him get on the road the next morning to pick her ass up and waited for him to call before she said anything.

Shit! No brainer as far as I'm concerned.

IMHO of COURSE!

Off the clock or not, this lady is a rude and inconsiderate bitch. It would be the last time I'd see her off the clock or not. Sounds like Clem's nose is a little wide open; perhaps a little pussy whipped. It goes to why you shouldn't get so personal. Even his ball and chain would have had more consideration.

I had an OTC Dinner date with an L.A. provider;
she informed me IN ADVANCE that if she got a call
from a paying client, even on the same day, then we'd have to reschedule. That didn't happen & the date went off nicely. In Clem's case that would be the only mitigating factor for him to see this provider again;since it DIDN'T happen, he should cut her off.

This is just my opinion, based on how I conduct myself and my affairs. This is by no means what I think everyone should do...its merely MY OPINION..

now that i got the disclaimer out the way...and have calmed down (my first instinct was to grab my skillet and start swinging)

Nothing annoys me more than flakes...drives me insane. Its tacky. Its unprofessional. Its...ooohh!!!!

You have every right to be upset, as her excuse was a piss poor one. YOU took the time to create the perfect date..all she had to do was show up....and she fucked THAT up?

You say you have seen her for over a year..I think, she is taking your presence for granted. As in..."oh, i can fuck him over as I know he will reschedule with me later".

YOU made an appointment with her FIRST. She should have scheduled that other client for another date and time..

UNLESS AND HOWEVER IF....this was an off the clock date. In this case...sorry honey. She may enjoy your company and really wanted to go...
but we all have bills to pay. It was still shitty...but the more i read over your story..it sounds like you wanted an off the clock type thing....

This is the height of disrespect. Completely inexcusable.

First off, it does not matter if you were paying for this time or not. Sorry ladies (and manginas)....it doesn't matter one bit. As much of a shock as this may be...there are actually things more important than money in this life. WOW. The SHOCK!! (amazing concept...I know).

You've been seeing her for over a year. How much money have you put in her pocket? Bunches. Where's the appreciation for that?
Regardless...she made arrangements with you. She broke those arrangements for what? An "appointment". Now how stupid of a business person is this? She bailed on you...someone who has seen her for over a year...to make a couple hundred quick bucks. You know what...if a couple hundred is that big a deal....you're a lousy money manager. Hard times have always come...and smart people are prepared. Idiots spend every dime they make...but that's rant for a different time.

The best and most telling part of this is that she knew at 9PM the night BEFORE you got your happy ass in the car and headed out.
Forget everything else....this is what makes her a POS. She didn't even have the decency to let you know the night BEFORE.
This...above all else...is what makes her a selfish pig.

Best thing you can do is ignore all the stupid "advice" about it being ok...or depending on whether or not you were paying for the time....and CUT THIS PIG OFF!
Don't see her again...or see her very very rarely. She takes you, and your money, for granted...and she has no respect for anyone else.

Move on. Find somewhere else to spend your money and time...and don't ever expect that you are more than an envelope. And don't get into a long discussion with her about why. If she's like this...no words you will ever say will have the power to get her to wake up.

No, I don't think you can be upset for her getting some business.

Yes, I think you can be upset for her canceling at virtually the last second possible.

Is there any possible way she could have warned you during the 12 hours between 9pm and 9am? It's one thing to have a last second cancel due to whatever reason, but she knew the 12 hours prior to telling you.

I don't think any of you who hold a regular job and that is your only source of income would blow it off to take someone to a social event and risk loosing your job, bread and butter, and income!

No I don't really think any of you would.....my kids enjoy a roof over their head, electricity, water, and food on the table all due to my income from being an escort and that is top priority.

If this is a lady's only source of income, it is just as important as any CEO, nurse, doctor, or lawyer's source of income.

Since we don't know if this was a OTC appt we will assume it was.  You still changed your schedule and made any arrangements necessary for attending this event she wanted to see.  Was that free.  I am sure she offered to reimburse you right.  Sounds like you saw her earlier then intended to make time to take her to this event(was she aware of this).  Part of being a provider is keeping your regulars happy so they return.  Sounds like an epic fail on her part.  Even if she was off the clock her behavior was rude.  She could have made some attempt to let you know her plans had changed.  I would be willing to bet the reason you were not notified was because the provider in question knew you would be upset and with good reason.  She had already scheduled earlier with you so you could take her to this event not so she could schedule with someone else on the clock or off.
