Well, I kinda have a problem.  Just some history on me, I'm not the owner of the company, but I'm the #2 guy out of about 60 employees.

Our new IT guy came to me today and let me know the company has some new software that can see where an employee has been on the internet.  His question was if I was interested in knowing so I could approach the employee.  Yes, I think he was kindly saying to me that he knows where I surf.

Is there any software I can put on my computer that will give me anonymity?  I'm not connected directly to our server like most of the company, but I do use the DSL here at the office hooked to a laptop.

Could I get fired?  I don't think the owner would get rid of me simply because of my current position and revenue I'm responsible for.  Could it cause some embarrasment?  Absolutely.

I'm at the office from about 7 am until about 11 pm daily.  Not preparing for my evening sessions could put a serious damper on my hobbying.

Any advice?  I tried one of those anonymous websites but it was way too slow.

has been there, ya can be - and you would be surprised at what happens behind closed doors when they tell you.

Take care.

In all likelihood you can be fired for surfing the net to sites like this one during work.  Does your company have a policy about this?  If it does then you being the #2 guy means it is even more exposed if it doesn't deal quickly & in public way to can someone in your position for using company assets to surf this type of site.

If you are at work until 11pm how in the heck to you have 'evening sessions'?

If you have the $s get a cheap laptop w/ wireless connection and go to lunch where there is a wireless connection and do your surfing there.  Certainly you can disappear for a hour for lunch....

Or see if there's a wireless netowrk in range. I'm lucky that the coffe shop downstairs has wireless so I can go on through its connection.

Simply put, don't use the work computer.  Even if you're not using their network connection and using wireless, you're more likely than not leaving incriminating things in your history, cookies, and cache.

Get a blackberry/PocketPC for the price of a session or two, and use that to your heart's content in perfect privacy.
