I’d wear courderoy and you’d be blonde
We’d slip inside a rented trailer,
Play pinochle  and gin till dawn.  I’d yawn.

Then wake, with you beside me,
I’d touch your face and feel your breath,
And think I could stop everything,
Sight, smiles and touch, and lonely roads,
Stop all of it

who whistled through her teeth when she blew
She played Yankee doodle
on my big fat noodle
And she validated my parking ticket too
