And no, I'm not talking about the reviews found this site!

I'm talking about all the books both in print and online about this peculiar profession. Everyone, both escort and client have interesting stories to tell and I always find myself intrigued with them.

Currently, I'm reading up on the Manhattan Madam - Very interesting!

What books have you read about the hobby?

About 20 years ago there was a movie based on the book about a notorious madam in NY who had a relative that arrived off the Mayflower.

Last year I read a book about a famous Olympic Athlete who became a provider due to her clinical depression. She was outed by The Smoking Gun.

Email me if you want the titles, as I do not want to violate Policy.

The Price: My Rise and Fall as Natalia, New York's #1 Escort
By Natalie McLannon

Disclaimer: hard drug use is featured throughout Natalie's story. But it is by far the best written account of escorting I've read from almost a dozen books/ short stories on the topic. Here's a brief synopsis (probably the back book-cover, I dunno it popped up on my Kindle):

In this sexy, darkly funny, and suprisingly poignant memoir, famed New York call girl Natalie "Natalie" Mclennan tells her full story for the first time. A cautionary tale about a bright, confident young woman who sells her future for easy money and glamour, "The Price" takes readers inside the world of the twenty-five-year-old-girl "New York" magazine labeled "The $2,000-An-Hour Hooker."

I hope this helps.. Enjoy! :)

I'm guessing "cautionary tale" and "sells her future" are more publisher's spin than an actual reflection of the contents, right?

I really enjoyed Getting Screwed: Sex Workers and the Law -- a journalist / professor interviews a number of professionals and attends a convention where there are sessions on marketing, finance, etc.

Really gives a good current look at what is, to me, a hobby but is a profession for the ladies.

She also talks about why and how law enforcement approaches the business.

Educational and an enjoyable read.
