TER General Board

Bogus theory

People make too much of the theory that it is more likely to contract an STD from a girlfriend/one-night stand than from a provider.  Because of the high level of activity of providers, I would say as many as 99% of TER-type hobbyists use condoms when seeing a provider.  However, these same people may not be as concerned about using condoms with girlfriends and other non-providers.  With regard to providers who offer BBBJTC, one would have to be naive to think that such providers, who see 4-5 people a day and swallow each of their clients' ejaculations is as likely to have an STD as girlfriends and non-providers.  Again, if your belief regarding provider/non-provider risk makes all of you feel better, just ignore this message.

scare the hell out of everyone or is it just me?

12% of the hobbyists out there have contracted an STD!  For those of us who are married, this is particularly alarming.  DATY and a BBBJ are a must for me and yet this stat now gives me pause.

I won't go in to the tired debate over the risk of STD's based on these particular activities and yes, we all do make a calculated risk when we participate in this hobby.  I just wonder if anybody else is surprised by the 12% number.

Not surprised at all. I am however curios as to how some of these guys got the STD. Was it from a street walker? ATF? I would obviously not want to know who specifically got the STD or who gave it to them.

In my case I got a STD back in about 1982 when the AIDS scare really hadn't started yet and bareback was very common. Since then I have always used a comdom and never had a problem.

However, if it said "sex with TER-level providers", I am hopeful the number would be lower.

Doubt it...I almost never DATY providers and I slipped up just once (condom broke) and got Chlamydia from a "TER-level provider."  But if it makes you feel better to think that, just ignore the poll and my unfortunate experience.  I also think that the number is probably higher than stated, because many people who contract an STD give up the hobby and would not be available to participate in this survey.

so if you have a BBBJ and the provider has a STD whats the chances of getting an STD? Assume you are in good health down there!

and I don't even have sex with clients, not even oral. Just handjobs. Didn't stop me from picking up scabies from a client. I'm sure whoever it was didn't know they had them, but it took me awhile to figure out what those itchy bumps were on my hands. Luckily they weren't too hard to get rid of.

The 12% is about what I expected. I think if you eliminate high risk activity like BBBJ, DATY and DFK and cleanup after -clinically so - and employee proper condom use at all times the odds are significantly less. It seems 80% of people who write reviews partake in what I would call high risk activity.
