I was watching the season premier of American Horror story and in a storyline that took place in the 60's a character who was a nymphomaniac mentioned to someone that she spoke french and greek.
In context, knowing what I know, it was very clear that she was referring to the sex acts that we all know and love.
I was under the impression that these were, very specifically, hobby related terms.
So, does anyone remember these terms being used by the more general population in the past, or is the writer a hobbyist?
since I was in my early teens. Seriously, you've never heard the one about the Greek kid who wouldn't leave home because he didn't want to leave his brother's behind?

Yes, I know, it's an ancient joke that greeks like anal sex. But specifically using the word Greek as a euphemism for anal sex is something I never heard before the hobby. If someone asked me if I liked greek, I'd think they were tallking about food. If they said "Sex in the greek style" I'd know what they meant, but simply saying "I like girls who are into greek" would not have (for me) had a sexual connotation until after I learned about it in the hobby.

You asked if the terms are used outside of the hobby. I said yes they are. I wasn't hobbying, nor did I even know what a prostitute was, when I was 12 or 13 years old so, yes, the terms are and have been used outside of the hobby for decades.
I must admit that, if I came from a healthcare background, I’d find the use of "provider" funny, too!
Yet I like the use. Personally, I cringe at words like "hooker" and "john," which in most circles connote something condemning. I suppose if one holds that sex-for-hire is de facto immoral, the connotation is apt; but as one who doesn’t, I prefer non-condemning terms. "Provider" and "client" work quite nicely.
In the Consumer Cellular commercial on the airplane, at the end there is a sign that says "exit your current provider". I thought, hell no! But the thought was audible. Nobody who heard it had any clue the thought behind it.
... I've pretty much heard it all. The famous joke trifecta (In Greece, how do you separate the men from the boys? With a crow bar.) touches on anal sex, gay sex and pedophilia.
Yet some terms were a bit new to me when I started this hobby. "Greek spoken" and "Trips to the Greek Isles" were obvious in their meaning but not ones I had heard before. I always just called it anal. I've also found myself explaining to providers, when I have told them of my ancestry, that I really AM Greek, and am not hinting that I really want to fuck them in the ass.
As with the mysterious terms of GFE, PSE, etc. it would be nice if we could all just agree on consistent slang phrases for "Greek" so that we all know what they mean explicitly. I'll suggest the following:
I can understand Greek when spoken to: You can rim my ass. Some Greek spoken: I'll rim your ass as long as it's not too hairy and nasty. Fluent in Greek: We can 69 and rim each other's ass. Yellow Pages tours of the Greek Islands: You can let your fingers do the walking (finger my ass), but you better not fuck my ass. Occasional trips to the Greek Islands: If your dick isn't too big, and if I didn't have Mexican for dinner last night, you can fuck me in the ass. Tour the Greek Islands with me: I love getting fucked in the ass, so you better plan on it. My travel agent can arrange a tour of the Greek Islands: I don't do anal, but my duo partner does.
I'm a member of a Las Vegas travel forum that is not hobby related and all of the members refer to "Black Jack" as "BJ" for short. Of course, we all know what it means around here. LOL!
