Every now and then I post a PSA like this reminding people to do things like:

*)  Make sure you have good anti-virus and anti-malware software installed AND that it is current

*)  If your anti-virus or anti-malware software has expired, renew the subscription or install free software

*)  Be sure to SCAN YOUR SYSTEM regularly for threats!

*)  Be sure to use STRONG PASSWORDS for e-mail and other online accounts.

*)  If possible, DO NOT use the SAME password for various kinds of accounts.  If you do and your password gets compromised, multiple online accounts can possibly be accessed.

*)  BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM AND YOUR DATA!!!!!!!!!  Also, make sure your backups are good backups, in the event you need them someday.  :)

*)  Keep your operating system (Windows, Mac OS X, etc) updated with service packs and updates!

*)  Keep your frequently used applications updated.   These are most likely your web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc), Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player, and Microsoft Office.

*)  BE CAREFUL when surfing the web to avoid accidental and inadvertent exposure to threats!

Thanks in for your attention.  :)

Peace...

Don't have one and don't need one

*)  If your anti-virus or anti-malware software has expired, renew the subscription or install free software

Not applicable (see #1). Free Anit-Virus is junk

*)  Be sure to SCAN YOUR SYSTEM regularly for threats!

Don't need to, don't want to and don't have Anti-Virus

*)  Be sure to use STRONG PASSWORDS for e-mail and other online accounts.

Always have since the beginning

*)  If possible, DO NOT use the SAME password for various kinds of accounts.  If you do and your password gets compromised, multiple online accounts can possibly be accessed.

Never have

*)  BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM AND YOUR DATA!!!!!!!!!  Also, make sure your backups are good backups, in the event you need them someday.  :)

Backed up automatically everytime anything changes

*)  Keep your operating system (Windows, Mac OS X, etc) updated with service packs and updates!

*)  Keep your frequently used applications updated.   These are most likely your web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc), Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player, and Microsoft Office.

Cannot and will not happen because of the way the system is configured (look up TPM)

Peace

Why the need to pay for a Mac hardware when it's the software that is responsible for the anti-viral features?

Mac OS X is a shameless rip off of Unix at the core of it. You know it and I know it.

Did I mention Ubuntu Linux is free and delivers even more robust security?
