I saw some articles that backpage was sold a few weeks ago. I notice this morning no new ads are being posted. Are they planning to shutdown the escort ads ?

Village Voice Media owned BP and City Pages which is a periodical in many larger cities among other media assets.

City Pages and their other media assets were spun-off into an entity of their own and BP will become an entity of its own.

BP is not going away but the move was done strictly to protect their other assets from potential legal issues or liability issues down the road. In other words BP is preparing for a fight and won't back down but just in case BP goes down, nothing else goes down with it. I did not get the impression that the adult section would be eliminated as that could have been accomplished without splitting the company.

a free speech issue, I hope they fight like hell!!

Many, many women here use backpage as a vital source of clientele. In many cities, Eros Guide is not a feasible option (either it doesn't exist, or it is so oversaturated that it's useless). I would hate to see backpage shut down because of this. Some may perceive it as a place for bait-and-switch and ROBs but for others it is their livelihood.

and I didn't speak out because I didn't use craigslist.

   Then they came for backpage,
and I didn't speak out because I didn't use backpage.

Then they came for eros guide,
and I didn't speak out because I didn't use eros guide.

Then they came for my TER,
and there was no one left to speak for my TER.

I am by no means a WK for BP, but you always seem to slam them whenever the topic comes up. Many providers and hobbyists use BP successfully, you just have to know how to shop on the site. As someone who TOFTT, I've found many wonderful new providers on BP.  Give it rest!

generate more money for the review site if women could link their reviews like before, and maybe even go a step further and say all ads must be verified before they go up. Would the latter happen? I doubt it, but at least it would be a positive change if it were owned by people actually promoting the escort business.

Didn't TER used to have links up for CityVibe?

And I agree with shillbill...macdaddy should take his complaints about another mall somewhere else.

I guess many guys don't remember the days of just popping around looking for action.

TER will let you link to a BP ad on your profile, but BP no longer allows you to link to your reviews from "their site." I used to like it when you could, because it was easy for guys to just skip ads with no reviews. Now, you have all these women claiming to be "well reviewed" and it's bs.
