sex work has backfired on the women it should have empowered.   As I see it, even the best well intentioned laws have unintended consequences & will need to be revisited & tweaked from time to time.

when a powerful and moneyed industry gets its hands on the nations laws.  We in the US are no stranger to this on any number of industries, gambling being the latest monster to rampage across the land.

The article mentions that unlicensed MPs are illegal, but makes no mention of the BCD escort model that we all know and love.  I had thought I had heard that this is legal in Australia, as it is in most of the rest of the civilized world.

Is this not so?

is that the article is published in Pravda, Russian paper. Suppose, they don’t know anything about prostitution and related crime, human trafficking, etc., in Moscow, St. Petersburg and many other places in around Russia and Central Asia.

Much, much worse than Australia.

Look at the source - Pravda. It seems like the old Marxist "all workers are exploited" point of view.  You could exchange "brothel" for "McDonald's" or "carwash".  I'm not sure if its  bad law or not, but its laughable that he bases his conclusion that it is on: 1) people go to work because they need money;  2) the worker doesn't get to keep all the money that the business collects from customers;  3) The employees don't have the initial capital out lay to start their own business; and lastly, 4) work sucks.  Note he doesn't source any of his "facts", so its nothing but this guys opinion.

You may as well state the law isn't bad because you watched that Aussie TV series about a brothel and all those girls were hot and didn't have any more hangups than the rest of us
