Chattanooga, TN and the surrounding areas are a beautiful area, nice mild winters but cold enough that you do get the seasons changing, mountains, a river, close to Atlanta and Nashville if the pickings in Chattanooga are not to your liking.

I was completely blown away by the range and quality of the available providers in North Dallas on a recent trip.  From where I live, everywhere seems to have a reasonable cost of living, but that is the price of paradise.

I don't think that I could handle the flat, brown lands for very long, but warm they had in spades.  Sure, some flimsy old sports arena had collapsed under the weight of snow last winter, but that is evidence of a rare event.  A little snow in the winter, cooling off to 98 at mid-night in June, and lots of fine dining of both the culinary and the hobby variety.

I didn't look at housing prices, but there certainly wasn't any shortage of land in sight, so I suspect they are reasonable.

IMO, Florida is too overrun with the geriatric snow-birds from NYC.  I'd rather have a red-neck for a neighbor than the urban snobs.

Warmer.  double check
Cost of living.  holy fuck check
Good hobby community.  check

The cost of hobbying is higher than some places, but the choices are plentiful.  Plus, housing is so cheap that the $100k or so you'd save would more than cover your hobby costs for quite some time.  Oh, on the downside, we don't get many hurricanes.  Please tell the Chamber of Commerce that little phil sent you when you move in, so I can get the $10 referral fee.

Savannah, GA is where you would love to retire. The beautiful beach of Tybee, great food, respectful people, a slow pace of living, and it doesn't snow! I have lived here for over a year now, from NJ and I wouldn't dream of ever leaving. I still work up north (NJ,NY, PA,CT) and when I come home, I am at such peace. No traffic, screaming, rudeness, or hectic schedules.

....and I certainly would not live in either place, but she asked about a place that was warm.  I just thought the fact that both states do not have state tax, would be a plus.  Personally, I need a change of seasons.

Nevada also has no state tax and Clark County (Las Vegas) is definitely warm. Washoe County (Reno - Tahoe) has seasons and snow for those that like to shovel and rake....

The think about no state tax is all the other fees and taxes, sales, auto licensing, property tax & etc are used to make up the deficit... do your due diligence...

Vegas obviously has a great hobby community, northern Nevada not so much... and for those that like the get in, get off, get out model we have our legal brothels....

Southern Nevada... No Doubt. Property taxes are cheap... close enough to California but far enough away... lots of things to do in the surrounding areas.

No Hurricanes or Tornadoes. I've lived all over and LV will be Headquarters for quite some time...
