TER General Board

Ask the client...

A question recently came up on a local Denver board, and I thought I'd ask about it here.

Do you think it's appropriate for providers to call hobbiests, hustling for business? Perhaps letting you know of specials, etc.?

The way I was taught, a provider never calls a client unless he has specifically given her permission to do so. It seems inappropriate to me, poor business, and shows a lack of discretion.

And yet some of the men on the Denver board indicated that they wouldn't mind getting a phone call from an ASP and some thought it would be rather flattering.

Thoughts?

I don't like providers cold-calling me, unless I've said in advance it's OK. Not for any security or discretion issues (I'm single and unattached), but because I just don't like getting marketing calls in general.

Now, if it's a simple "hi, how are you" and not a sales call, that's different. But that probably means the provider and I are friends already.

It should never be done. Calling as friends like the previous poster is one thing, obviously they would now each other. But a buisness call?  I think most guys here would out her in a heart beat

and hang up if a girl answers. Most of the girls I know in this sport I consider friends, so they are not going to call me to solicit a date, more so just to say hi or if they have some issue with something going on with the boards or something, which has happened. I talk to people all day long in my 'work' life, so a friendly voice doesn't bother me at all.

Hustling for business, no thanks, besides, the ladies I see seem to be doing just fine...

...next time you see him if it is ok to call with specials or whatever.  Then put him on your "do call" or "do not call" list as appropriate.

even with a personal cell phone, you never know who may answer it.

As to being called to solicit, I would think most men would be annoyed by it, on the other hand, I have been called by long term ATF's who hadn't heard from me in a while and just wanted to know if I was OK, so the context of the call is important in order to determine the correctness, or lack thereof.

You Bev, of course, can call me anytime.  :o)

There may be some clients who invite this just as there are some trysters who let clients call them by their real names.  It definitely is unusual arrangement, though.

Personally, I wouldn't want to receive a phone solicitation for any reason including hobbying.  However, I wouldn' object to an email as that is far less invasive.
Providers who are friends are different. But most of my friends don't call asking me to f*ck them for money.

...I booked her once and had a good time. She did well on the day. Then for the next month she would text me about twice a week to see if I wanted to meet up again. I had to pay for the texts as well, though that is by the by. All this despite the fact that we lived a great distance apart. I eventually had to tell her off and never bothered seeing her a second time. Pushy is bad.

One very silly provider actually put a Xmas card through my door one year, obviously just as a reminder that she was still available for hire. It was nearly six months after I had previously seen her. Although I was living alone when we meet for the date she had no idea of my personal situation six months later and I might have been living with an SO. What a dumb thing for her to do?

These days I maintain a seperate hobby phone and email. I don't like spam but at least this way it keeps it off my main phone.

uhm...thats why providers post ads.  If a client wants to see you, he'll contact you.  There have been times I wasnt all that busy and could have really used the work, but the last thing I would do is call and ask for an appointment.

I have a phone # - that is not work - but that I use for this hobby.... but I do not think it appropriate for a lady to call me just to solicit a session...

I also have a separate e-mail that I use for this hobby, that is more appropriate... and I do not mind that as I read the e-mail, and make a decision.

As most know, the flirting that goes on on the boards is shameless... and I must stop pestering the ladies! lol...  But Flirting on the boards seems to me a much more innocent way to let a gent know that you might be interested in meeting him.  ditto for the chat room.  I have actually booked time and met people that I might not have, just because they flirted with me...!  and I was flattered and somewhat happy that they did.  Had these same people called me out of the blue?  No, I would not meet them, in fact, that would sort of scare me as I would wonder how they got my phone #.  Or even had I seen them, I still would not welcome a solicitation by phone, just drop an e-mail.  That way, it is not "in my face"

If a provider calls to say "hi" I am very much ok with that (as that has happened), or if she calls and says "I need an escort to a function and would like you to take me... OTC" I am ok with that as well (hey, it has happened!)

So, it really depends on the nature of the call.... and is not a function of an SO - I have none and have no plans for one in the near future.

All that said, as a "guy" I am very much flattered when a lady pays attention to me.  All the more so, when the lady is intelligent, and has a perspective on life that is interesting...  I cannot understand guys who only want the lady to be a living "F***-doll"....   with nary a thought clogging her head.  Sorry, I just don't get that!

In sum, e-mail is always welcome, calls, if I have met you and it is not to "drum-up business" are Ok as well.

I appreciate knowing about "specials", or even, "I was thinking of you and craving a session -- when's good for you?".  I'm rarely in a place where I can take a personal call, especially one of a more intimate nature.  I share an office, my SO wouldn't appreciate me taking those calls at home, and talking about dates while I'm commuting means I'm not going to be able to give the call nearly the attention it deserves.

Sometimes it really makes my day and I just jump on in... or at least it puts a smile on my face... until the next time I do see them!! It might be about getting the biz but it's nice to know your on their hassle me list....LOL!!!!
Thing here is that I do have a hobby phone so no big deal! I think if I was using my personal phone I would maybe have a different opinion and would much prefer email…

I don't need to know when a local provider is running a special.  I don't hobby very often, and it's unlikely I'd schedule a date at the drop of a hat.

On the other hand, I see a provider from out of town who calls and lets me know when she's visiting.  I see her regularly and appreciate the notice, in case I haven't read the local board lately.  She asked me in advance if it was okay to call me, and she'd stop if I asked her to.

I would have to say it depends on the relationship between the two. I have had two that I consider to be friends and we did things together outside of the sessions and they called me any time they wanted. I miss one of them a lot since we ended up falling for each other but she moved away and I lost touch.

Phone calls are tricky. I only call my clients when returning a call or when he and I have built a relationship to where I can call just to say hello. I also encourage gentleman to call me just to chew the fat if they like. It's nice to visit someone you have a repoire with and feel and mental and physical connection with.

I never call to "hustle" business. I keep that to my message board posts and e-mails. Otherwise I would seem like a telemarketer calling to get money. I never want to do that or be an inconvience. That is probably close to the opposite of how I would like myself to be perceived.

Kisses,
Vanica

...to some guys like me it is a nuisance and an annoyance. I'm much more likely not to use the services of people who trouble me in that way, providers or whatever.

But clearly not everybody thinks the same way and I guess providers would not hustle in this way unless they got some positive results.

Speculative calls with a client you saw once and calling people you have built a relationship with are very different. The consent point is key. Those that don't have my consent and continue to call me are likely to be told to "f*ck o*f" before long.
