What makes you providers think I want to listen to your style of music while I'm online?
I don't think I have ever found a provider that has my musical preference on her website and since she's not the listening just TURN IT OFF and let me listen to my own music. This doesn't even address the issue of guys looking from the office.

Why don't you just mute it if you dont like the music?

You don't always know that it's coming. I find music on a providers web site irritating also.

While I appreciate your frustration, your agressive attitude is what needs to be 'TURNED OFF'.  I too agree that music is annoying while surfing the web, however being a grown up, I have learned to use the mute button!! Cause I'm a big girl! Providers are for the most part just trying to make their sites appealing to you men and want to make it nice. We certainly can't please every single person out there. Obviously. Perhaps if you stated your comments in a non dick head way, more providers would say 'hmmmm, maybe he's right' and turn their music off. Your attitude is more likely to make them TURN IT ON AND UP!!!!!

That's the kind of attitude that will line up clients in droves. Any provider that turns it "on and up" will definitely not be getting a call from me.

I agree that music on a website is annoying to no end. The first thing I do is click the little "x" in the upper right corner and never go back.

you can make a point without being aggro and condescending about it, and it will be listened to one hell of a lot more than if you make it like he did.

This is also a pet peeve of mine that I have mentioned before.  My theory is that any music a provider may have on her site is not going to get her any business and it could be counter-productive.  What she thinks is sexy and inviting is unlikely to be shared by her male potential client.  Music is too individual and men's and women's tastes are different.

Additionally, music that can blare out at the wrong time is a definite no-no.  Many people leave the sound on on their computers (even in the office) to hear email and IM notifications.  Leaving your sound on mute to avoid a provider's crappy music may not be the best solution.

Men want to see pictures that suit their personal tastes, evidence of a willing attitude and the right price.  That's about it.  So why would providers bother with music?  Be smart.

Perhaps myself and others have asked nicely to no avail so, to heck with being nice.
If you as a provider aren't interested in making a web site that isn't annoying than perhaps myself and others will just pass on getting to the contact info on your page.

and I have yet to hear someone/anyone start a thread, " I love to hear music on provider sites"
Most providers, when told of this, turn off their music without fuss. Now that's smart. It's easier to exit from the site, then to turn off your sound.

Yes it has been brought up numerous times before.  The music is quite annoying.  They should know by now that this can be a real problem depending on where, when, and who is viewing their website. And it adds NOTHING that a guy is looking for.  If they think it does, they don't understand what a guy wants from a website.  But then that's obvious when many websites now are so "fancy" they are difficult or impossible to navigate.  IMHO, keep it simple, easy to read and easy to navigate.

I applaud your effort to inform them.

Here's another idea, when booking an appointment only book with ladies who actually care what their clients want.

No, I love music....However when I'm surfing I'm either listening to the music that I LIKE or sometimes watching TV and don't want to be bothered with someone else's musical tastes!

I think everyone needs to drink some eggnog and whiskey and by happy.  Shesh!!!  I think 90% of the providers don't have music on their sites that have been around for a while becuase we know the reasoning behind it.  However, everyday there are 25 new girls that are poping up that are new to the biz and not so aware of these things.  Where as most of us find it to be common sense, they may not.  Not everyone is as advanced as you guys and don't always think of these things.

SO take a drink of that eggnog, take a deep breath and enjoy the next website.

Happy Holidays,
Tasha

Well to be truly holiday oriented, wear a bow and let someone "unwrap" you. Probably the best present they will get this year.

If a provider has music on her site, her reviews will need to be pretty damned exceptional for me to look at it, which means I'm not going to be seeing her.

It is hard enough trying to keep others from seeing the screen.  If there is music, I attracts the attention of others...

The funniest webpage I every knew of though on this idea was a page that when you went to it displayed what looked like a pretty normal page, but out of your speakers at the loudest level possible came the audio "Hey everybody, I'm looking at porn" over and over again.   You could not get to the mute button fast enough.

It is long gone, but became a popular wabsite to send to a co-worker with a note attached that he needed to look at it for important information.

"Your attitude is more likely to make them TURN IT ON AND UP!!!!! "

HA HA HA!!!

Yes, I agree - I cant stand it when I log onto a site that starts playing music without my permission first, and I don't like to "mute" my sounds, because it "clicks" when I get a new email... so I agree!

HOWEVER, I also agree, you could have been nicer about it. Most of us here, are in the biz to make you men happy, so a little note and a reason for your frustrations, followed up by a smiley face would have made many girls pay more attention, my opinion :-)

Hugs, Tayler Of Charlotte

What a great thread! Had to laugh ! As I have been a full time musician for the last 35 years, it struck me as indicative of what music has become to most people. Seems to me that the original poster was making the point about it not being music he liked. Perhaps a compromise would be to offer a 'menu' of musical selections that the viewer can choose from (ha!) if inclined, and eliminate the need for the leap to the mute button. That way, those of us who actually PLAY instruments for a living don't become victims in real life.
