Better put those Bibles back, pronto.

and then Layla put it perfectly, from her perspective.
So here goes. IMO nobody should be in this hobby if it is a source of spiritual pain. If anyone does feel such pain, then they should get whatever support they need to stop providing, or stop hobbying, and pursue other endeavors.
I do believe that the hobby is, for some us, a source of peace and joy. But maybe it is also, or can be, a way station to a higher place.
Maybe I'll ask Miki what she thinks.
Another recruit for the Mary Magdalene Brigade?
But seriosly folks, the path of life, like the course of true love, is never a smooth or an even one. Hers appears to be an interesting life journey.
Life's rich pageant indeed. If she's able to offer comfort and support to those who need it, so much the better, and more power to her, and best wisahes to those who she helps.
and I'm surprised SH didn't pickup on it,
But I do support her efforts.
imply more than met the eye, but just couldn't figure it out.
But, here are some tentative hypotheses. Am I even close?
1. JC, according to at least one of the scriptures, dclared himself somewhere as a fisherman of men's souls;
2. when a woman's private parts are rankly odiferous, that sometimes is referred to as "fish"
[there is a terrible old joke about one such lady passing a blind man...];
3. con artists sometimes refer to their victims as "fish." Can an unconsciously guilty conscience be compelling her to hint at the possibility she's not on the level?;
4. something having to do with the fishhead, on Annie's T-shirt, pointing to the right [seems really far-fetched, but what the heck]. and can there be some significance to the fact that the fishhead points to the left on the website" [even more far-fetched];
5. the fish represents a phallic symbol?;
6. the fish, turned sideways, represents a woman's pubic area?
Man, i am dying to get your take, ed2000. Thanks for wandering over from P&R, I eagerly await the 411 on this. I going back to the link and stare at that damn thing for more possible inspiration.
-- Modified on 11/11/2007 11:15:12 AM
You know, I suppose the fish can represent anything you want it to represent. I'm sure the intention is closer to representing the call to be a fisher of men though. May I ask where the differing directions of the fish are located at? I went to the website and can't find any variations. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong area.
On the website homepage the fish head is pointing to the left.
One of the pics has Annie wearing a black tee-shirt with the fish image on it, and, unless I'm totally cockeyed and putzy beyond belief, on her shirt the fishhead is pointed to the right.
I cannot wait for ed2000 to respond. It's so unimportant, but it's driving me crazy.
TY
While Annie's use of the Fish symbol, I am sure, is founded in the rich Christian history of it's use, I on the other hand immediately thought of your definition number two. I instantly fell to the bottom of the gutter and landed on my baser instincts. Good and proper hygiene aside, anyone who used to get naked and spread her legs simply should not and must not wear clothing with a fish on the cover. The only thing that could be worse would be a Tat.

From the opening page on the site, it's pretty apparent that she is being managed. I can't believe half her testimonial and it appears to be rewritten and edited to cover all the points of the creed she has chosen, though her motivations and intentions are good.
If she chose "Fallon" or "Fallen" as her working name, (extremely sexy that name) she was highly Christian influenced to begin with and practically pre-destined to convert. It's apparent that she went in feeling "Fallen" unlike a lot of providers.
I also wonder how she could call herself a "call girl" (is that term in wide use these days now?) and not at least mention the internet or the word "provider." And why she doesn't mention independents and whether that was an option for her.
I can't believe she says she was in the business for 11-years and worked as a "high-class" prostitute for all of it. Yet, simultaneously, she had a pimp, worked the streets, danced, and did porn. That's the way it sounds. She wasn't working 11-years consecutively as a "high class escort" as she said. So, I think her story has been worked into a paradigm fellow Christians will accept: that SW are the same as "high-class call girls."
She also hasn't chosen the most charitable creed of Christianity here.
Though as another poster said, she shouldn't stay in the business if it causes her pain. Nor should anyone.
Just a few questions.
1. What do you mean by "managed?"
2. To what creed are you referring?
3. Why hasn't she chosen the "most charitable creed of Christianity?"
And a few comments and clarifications.
1. The name "Fallen" or "Fallon" was taken from the television show Dynasty and pronounced as the character on the show played by Pamela Sue Martin. She went into the industry with gusto, far from feeling fallen. She was far from hating it.
2. Yeah, "Call Girl" is still used by the general public. Primarily by those working from in calls made to an escort agency.
3. She never claimed to have worked as a high class escort for the entire 11 years. She's done some nude modeling. She danced for a couple years, primarily in Minneapolis. She was then pimped for five years. And afterwards, she became a high class escort. She catered exclusively to the very wealthy and very famous.
4. Annie has never performed in a porn film.
Annie is no longer in the business. No pain. She is working in full-time Christian ministry.
Who is the writer of that page? It definitely isn't her. The "Creed" I'm talking about is the branch of Christianity, born again suburbanized protestantism. It has more in common with self-improvement books and aerobics classes than charity for the poor. Hence on the page, you find a paragraph like this:
"Do you live life by default instead of design? Are you looking for creative and effective ways to jump-start your business, your ministry, and your personal relationships, as well as the way you approach life in general?"
Now that's really concerned about the downtrodden, like the homeless who day-to-day really need help like jump starting their businesses? This modernistic, market-niched, self-absorbed type of suburbanized Christianity is what I refer to as a separate "creed" from other creeds of Christianity. Self-help books take the place of charity here. I might be an atheist, but I have more respect when a Christian creed is less concerned with oneself and more with helping others.
Now, about her doing porn:
"I might not look like it, but I did it ALL, I tell you the truth! Prostitution, (street & high class call girl) exotic strip dancing, nude modeling, drugs of every kind, sex addiction, cutting, abortions--yes and miscarriages, masturbation addiction, pornography, dominance mistressing addiction, bisexuality, men addiction, gambling, binge drinking, smoking, anorexia, bulimia, and JAIL TIME... just to name a few..."
Nude modeling I took as "porn," especially when it's introduced by "doing it all." The vast majority of the porn I look at are stills.
She claimed categorically that she was an "escort-girl for 11 years" on that TBN video (the one on the top right) she specifically says, "I was an escort girl in Las Vegas for 11-years." So, she mis-stated it for the exact effect I talk about. She distorts things to confirm the prejudices of the Christians she speaks to.
So Fallon was taken from the TV show dynasty? That's pretty remote. I never watched the show. And still . . .
Call girl? I guess it could be in wide use. I haven't dealt with agencies. On here, even agency girls have been referred to as "providers." She must know the term. Was she reviewed?
I think she'd agree that she had more problems than the sex industry. In fact, she had been out of it damn long time it seems when she "hit bottom." Her writing letters to God, her singing a hymn while she was tied in a trunk: yes, she was extremely Christian influenced. What was screwed up was her relationships. So, in a sense, I'm surprised that she could regard the sex industry as anything more than an aggravation to her other problems.
As for the drugs and drug influence, sad to say if you're a very good looking woman, drugs are available to you. Guys will offer it to you pro bono (mostly at first) and will gladly supply you. That's not a unique problem for the sex industry, except that it brings beautiful women in contact with "connected" men. Given how much this happens all over, I almost think it's part of the mating ritual for humans.
There's one part of her testimony that I resent and I take personally: "I had to be the best actress all of time just to make sure I got paid--men actually thought I enjoyed what I did. How could men think this? It was a flat out LIE! This is SEXUAL ABUSE in its worst form--a jail cell of your mind."
That is not what I do, and that is not the person I am. Did she think that of the client she went into business with?
Lastly, this sounds like nitpicking now, but it really isn't. I think "Hookers for Jesus" is a very bad name. The "for Jesus" is an absolutely stupid term, and blasphemous for Christians (though not for "Jews for Jesus") Why? It makes it sound like Jesus needs HER support. Like he's running for mayor, and like HE is the product being sold. She's not escaping the "Pop Culture." She's turning Jesus into a Pop Culture product to be promoted. In her CBN interview, she spends a lot of time explaining the "hookers" part of the name. The real problem is the "for Jesus" part.
That's an atheists opinion, but if it's not obvious to Christians, there's something wrong.
You misunderstood my meaning when I said she shouldn't stay in the business when it causes her pain: I meant it was good that she is out of the business. I'll add that it's probably good that she gives help to people who want out of it.
I differences with her. I don't dislike her. I don't wish her harm. But Christianity I have a problem with generally.
If I had the energy to write a post as long as yours, I would have written something very similar. Thanks for saving me the effort. IMHO your post is spot on.
I have to add that after reading some autobiographies like Jenna Jameson's "How to Make Love like a Porn Star," what they really have in common, what really drags women down, what they really can't recover from are bad relationships in general. Like Annie staying five years with a guy, a pimp, who was a horrible person. The experience makes them doubt their own previous experiences retroactively.
who, up until a few years ago, taught Mormon Sunday school.
As Beckett put it so elegantly in Waiting for Godot:
"The tears of the world are of a constant quantity."
Or put another way: You win some, you lose some.
I respect different views, and I respect other's right to believe as they wish. I also recognize that there are many women, if not the majority of sex workers who are exploited or coerced in some fashion. But I am truly sick to death of hearing pseudo-Christians expound on their theory that every woman who chooses sex work must inherently have low self esteem, no skills or ability to work a 'real' job, a drug habit, a history of sex abuse, or a pimp who is forcing them. I resent the notion that I am somehow scarring my psyche or my soul by choosing the work I have chosen.
I admire their willingness to assist women who have fallen into this line of work unwillingly, or who do wish to get out of this line of work but are unable to. But enough please, with the generalizations, and the stereotypes that all sex workers must surely feel the same way, or be in the same dire circumstances.
I love what I do, I plan to continue doing it for as long as I can, and I am completely confident that my poor soul will be fine and dandy when it is all said and done. And along the way, I plan on putting as many smiles on as many men's faces as I can :o )
You go girl! xxxooo
Amen, sister,i hope you keep doing it for a long long time.
hugs
I have gone 180 degrees spiritually three times in my life- luckily only the first time intolerant of any other beliefs. When you have a major spiritual foundation change when you've been arrogant in the past, it is most humbling and you become much more tolerant of others.
We all grow hopefully as the years go by and change, trying to find a belief system that works for us- gets us through the trials of life.
To me the greatest example of when it is working for someone is when it results in greater love and tolerance for others, even the ones hard to love!
We all need to find inner peace and reconcilation with what we do and who we are. If this works for some, then why not?
I think it is great! Many wonder is she another hypocrite out in search for more $upport and using Jesus as a tool to help her $cheme?
I do not think so, she is a reborn christian just happy to be free and it looks to me like she is doing alot with her ministry to help others that also want "out" or need support.
If I see her in Vegas doing things she should not be doing with me and alot of other sinners I will be the first to let you all know.

or sitting down with her legs crossed, with a nice hard focus clearly showing her shoes.
Ah, geez, looks like I'm leaving perversion behind and clearly approaching the border of degeneracy.
BTW, this is a veiled invitation for OFF to search his image data bases. Hope he see this. LOL BTW, this again IS NOT to be construed as encouragement to OFF by those who do not appreciate his efforts here. More LOL.
Too bad Imelda Marcos didn't provide. 6000 pairs of shoes? I'd be her slave for life, just for the pumps and slingbacks alone. Maybe toss in a couple of mules and a few stappy cocktail dress shoes. LMAO

Now you have crossed the line into degeneracy. lmao
What if I just limit myself to intense and prolonged foot worship?
Has she not departed the world? Ohhh, an overwhelming shiver of tastelessness just ran down my spine. But I'll get over it quickly enough.
I like that in a person. lol
Thank you very much!
When one is a corrupt deviant consumed by unspeakable needs and desires, almost impossible of fulfillment, and a veritable social outcast, it's comforting that someone, anyone, anywhere "understands," let alone "accepts." LMAO!!!
I'll look you up on the hostility board later, GaGambler.
to those who want "to be saved" I have no feelings, one way or the other. If it makes her feel good, so be it.
Where the problem lies, is the fact that very few of the "born again" types can limit their ministries to those who actually welcome them. What happens, is at best they are annoying to the rest of us, at worst they become crusading angels, crashing down doors, trying to protect us poor sinners from ourselves, and causing way more problems then they solve.
I think we've all known the type, the ex junkies who used to be strung out on drugs, now they're strung out on the lord.
If that's what gets you through the day, I'm all for it, just don't assume that what the rest of us are interested in.
what the double entendre with the fish symbol ed2000 is referring to could be?
I've been banging my empty head against a wall for the last day trying to figure it out. My head really hurts, and the wall ain't looking all that good right about now.
Please! I'm running out of aspirin and tylenols!
I hope my simple mindedness wasn't too disappointing.

Not in the least, simplemindedness is clearly like mothers' milk to moi, but...
My head is sore and ringing, I'm totally out of OTC painkillers, I have to return to work Tuesday after a week's vacation and get a lot of wierd looks and stupid questions re these damn bandages, plus I'll have to spend a tedious afternoon Saturday replastering, taping, sanding and painting hugh parts of my miserable garret.
I shoulda quit while I was behind, instead of trying to recoup my figurative losses and falling really far behind.
TY for putting me out of my misery. Eventually. DEFINITELY NOT LOL !!!
See you around some other boards.
