Article on the subject of legalizing P2P on page 1 of today's Boston Globe...

I was not aware that some high profile pols such as Ayanna Pressley are taking up the banner.

Very interesting take on the internal divide among the progressive side of the aisle.   It makes me think that a similar divide could occur on the other side between the libertarians and the religious conservatives.

In any case, those around Boston should try to find a copy of the Globe, and others can check if the article gets picked up by a news service or two.

but I will concede she is the least wacky member of The Four Stooges, and she is absolutely right on this issue.

As for the Globe, like many other online rags, The Glove demands that you buy a subscription before you can read any articles in their entirety. I did find a story by Huff Po on the subject and I have provided the link.

It is most definitely going to be an uphill battle, on the liberal side you have virulently anti prostitution soccer moms, and on the conservative side you have the religious nut jobs, who mainly want to control women, but are VERY frequently johns themselves. They will hopefully be countered by true believers in equal rights for women on the left and as you mentioned Libertarians on the right. And who knows, just like there are a lot of people who voted for Trump but who would NEVER admit to in in public, it wouldn't surprise me if there weren't a lot of public bible thumpers who secretly employ sex workers themselves who might vote for decriminalization in the secrecy of the voting booth. We can only hope, right? lol

I just learned from your article that NY is the first state to actually have legislation introduced to decriminalize sex work.  its a start, but not enough IMO.  We can only guess how many Thumpers would support legalizing sex work if they didn't have to out themselves as customers to do it.  It seems like in the past, only the high-profile religious leaders, that can be held up as hypocrites by the Left, are the ones getting caught.

It's only the high profile thumpers that make the news. Nobody cares about tricks getting busted that they have never heard of. Case in point Bob Kraft, Kraft was only one of dozens of johns swept up in this bogus human trafficking sting, but he is the only one anyone is talking about.

A lot of liberal pols get busted for solicitation too, but in all fairness unless they ran on a "Family values" platform it's just not as juicy or hypocritical when they get caught.

It isn't men who want to prohibit access to easy sex.  Look at the tens of thousands of sugar babes selling access. There aren't comparable sites for guys. That's because access to sex with females is in demand and wives and girlfriends want to maintain that monopoly. They don't want Jezzy Bell cutting into their bargaining power. Might cloak it as religious or ideological, but it is purely mercenary.  So don't expect legalization to win much support from women in general.

You did learn about both the NY and HI legislation, around 6 months ago, on these boards. You just forgot.

You replied to both threads.  But a little reminder and update doesn't (shouldn't) hurt.

I did forget.  According to the top poster count, that was over 2200 posts ago for me.  I'm sure there are others I have forgotten as well.  Contrary to popular belief, my memory is not perfect, but its a hell of a lot better than some older guys here who I do not have to name.  Lol

Glad to see you are still on this board.  I was starting to wonder if you were overwhelmed by all of the "new" posts from returning members.

and in many of those countries there are movements to criminalize or re-criminalize prostitution. In almost every one of those countries the movements are led by women. Ironically, in Costa Rica, its AMERICAN soccer moms who are leading the charge. Ex Pat Americans make up only about 1% of the population, but a huge percent of the MONEY down there. American housewives hate the fact their husbands can go get laid as easily as going out for a pizza and until relatively recently, for about the same price. lol

I do have to say that in many places, prostitution was/is kept illegal for the same reason as women were/are denied other rights, like equal pay, or even the right to work, to keep women subservient to men. Once a woman can sell/rent her pussy to whoever she chooses, it's that much tougher for an abusive spouse to control her financially. So it's not JUST women wanting to keep prostitution illegal, it's just for different reasons.

down there, the price of P2P will probably go up, and the effect will be that their hubbys will have less dough to spend on them because I'll dollars to donuts that the amount of hobbying stays about equal, law or no law.

It's also odd when you consider that men pretty much have more political say then women yet pass laws to make P2P illegal in many countries still.   What exactly are they thinking?   It must be that they will get voted out by women if they vote for legal P2P; but even in dictatorships, they are, if anything, even more restrictive.

Something don't add up.

supported giving women the vote, and THIS is how WE are repaid a few generations later.  Ingrates!!!

Fortunately, the women we see professionally are on OUR side on this one.  I call that bipartisan support for legalizing sex work.  Lol

who had to fight very hard, and even sometimes violently, to get their right to vote.  It's a very interesting movement if you ever want to check it out, especially the movement in the UK which was quite a bit more arduous than was the struggle here in the US.

Not all women who are escorts are in favor of decriminalization by the way.   In the past more than a few opined that they like things the way they are on account of the fact that they do not want the added competition they seem decriminalization would bring.

If its legalized, it would also mean the government would probably find a way to generate revenue by way of a "sex" tax that the ladies would be required to collect and remit to the government much the same way as a hotel collects a "hospitality" tax.  Usually when taxes are added, what we pay for something goes up, not down.

In the end it will come out of the John's pocket. In Costa Rica, for example, while there's no literal tax, the hotels often take their cut by charging Johns $20 to bring a chica up to their room.

Do you have any idea just how many towels you can go through when having four or five different chicas come up to your room? Every one of them seems to want to take a shower before AND after sex, and each one of them wants to use two towels for each shower. The first thing I used to do when checking into my room at the Del Rey was to tip the housekeeping lady and have her bring me a HUGE stack of towels. lol

You always claimed to just wipe your dick on her drapes. Although at the Del Rey you could probably get an STD that way.

Just that I probably had to get at least a dozen of them a day from housekeeping. lol

Can you even imagine how much jizz the bedspreads, drapes etc have on them at the Del Rey?
