I called today to schedule an appointment for STD tests. The office told me that most insurance companies only pay for HIV, Herpes, and Syphilis tests.

They told me I would have to pay extra for the other tests. Not that long ago one fee paid for everything.

For those of you that get tested at private places are you find the same thing, having to pay for the extra tests out of your pocket ?

this is just an expense you have to live with.

Some STD tests are drawn in different ways. Herpes has to be taken from an active lesion. Others are blood tested, and yet others tested from the mucous of the genitals.

So unless you had multiple procedures done in one sitting, you've never really had a FULL panel.

The place I get my testing done has a bundle package for HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, hepatitis A, B, and C, testing but you have to request and pay extra for HSV-1/HSV-2 testing. Seems kind of silly to me that they don't include it with the rest since it's such a common STI! Oh well. I'm grateful that it's even offered.

I got all the tests (HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, hepatitis A, B, and C)  yesterday and I found out that I have mono.

It was a good thing that I did not see a provider 2-3 weeks ago, I could have given her mono. I did know I had mono.

I did not know I had mono.

full load.  How do I explain these frequent tests to my physician wife? So I glafly go private, anonymous, slef paid.
