I believe that key card locks on hotel room doors are battery operated as well as not connected to the network. So I think most key cards should continue to function -- if the key card was already programmed. New guests, however, might not be able to get key cards programmed. Just speculating.
My key stopped working at the Mandalay one night, just got back from a M&G about midnight, and couldn't get in.
I figured my key was bad, so went to the front desk and got a new one, and they didn't work. Finally they sent up a security guy and even his keys wouldn't open the door. Finally a guy in a suit and tie shows up, he gets on the phone (Someone told me it was to some place in Europe.) and after about 15 minuets he gets the door to open, but warns me not to leave or it will lock again and won't open.
It was 2 AM by the time I got to bed, and I had a 10 AM flight the next morning.
