To many who want to impose their idea of what is right and wrong on the rest of us, addiction means doing anything that they disapprove of.  To them, I say that they are addicted to being busy bodies at best, and fascists at worst.

My opinion is that if you find that you are doing something you either don't want to do, or find that doing so creates problems for the other things in your life (like overspending or otherwise being unavailable for those you love), then you have an addiction and should seek therapy for it.

Otherwise, go and enjoy.

If you haven't seen the recent Time magazine, there's an article on sex addiction.  Some might say that anyone that is a hobbyist might have a sex addiction (they claim that if you cum more than 7 times a week, you might be sex addicted!) They also claim the recent publicity surrounding Tiger Woods has put more focus on sex addiction.  I say BULLSHIT.  Tiger Woods was doing what any decent looking guy with a HUGE amount of money would do, and that is take advantage of the women who are throwing themselves at him.  His problem was that he did it way too publicly, and over the top.  But he's not sex addicted, he's just a guy with a LOT of opportunity!

Anybody sex addicted on TER??

Sex falls under the basic human needs category for me. I'm addicted to sex like I'm addicted to food, sleep, and taking a shit.

However, if sex addiction exists, it's the happiest habit I have!

so, they can build rehabilitation centers. I think it was called nymphomania for females. Why not start a new addiction segment.

Sex is good the more the merrier, isn't it?

I don't know where they get their statistics.  If a random group of men were surveyed and asked (in private) "how many times do you cum (from sex or masturbation) in an average week, would most men be honest?  I thought once a day on average was just fine and normal.  I go in spurts (pun intended) sometimes...if I have great sex, I can cum twice in a short time, then the next day I'll sometimes wake up horny and do it myself in the shower..then go a day without, then maybe twice the next day, etc.  So I think I average more than 7 times a week.  I'm sure there's lots of men who routinely do it in the shower, every time.

If whatever you do, golf, ski, this hobby, bowl, etc, is interfering with normal life, then it might be an addiction. If I sell the car, and mortgage the house so I can run through TER's top 100 list, then I am probably addicted!

Some people might be a lot hornier than others but how do you determine if being extra horny is an addiction. Is it possible to OD on sex? I dont think so. If a guy divorces his wife because she wont fuck enough is it an example of addictive behavior? I say no.

I believe the clinical definition of addiction is a compulsion that interferes with the normal conduct of life and relationships.  But when I was obsessed with my work, to the point where I became physically unhealthy and lost touch with my friends and family, nobody batted an eye.  Instead, I was flooded with praise and admiration, honored at banquets, and was held up as a shining example of what others should aspire to be.  But once that obsession passed, and I moved on to other interests, suddenly I was labeled politely as "OCD" and less politely as an "addict."

It's a daily struggle for me to moderate anything in my life.  That has never changed.  What society calls that, however, depends on what I'm doing -- not how I do it.  And the only people who seem to truly understand this are other so-called "addicts."

however the term/diagnoses is also extremely misused. Tiger Woods is certainly not a sex addict, and the overwhelming majority of men who partake in the services of erotic providers are certainly not sex addicts. sex addiction also cannot be defined as "person who is frequently horny and has lots of sex." that would be the definition of a sexually healthy individual. sexual addiction, otoh, has nothing to do with sexual desire or lust. it is a form of self-medication for someone who is deeply mentally and emotionally disturbed. just like a drug addict, the lure is not in the substance/activity itself but in the temporary escape it provides.

I work as a web cam girl and I often worry that some of my regulars are seriously addicted based on the amount of time they spend on the site. It seems as soon as they get home, they are online watching girls until it's time to get to bed. They'll never meet a woman if they spend 90 percent of their free time jerking off to us camgirls.

how many clients I see in a week), and I sometimes get myself off before going to sleep (again, regardless of how many or few I've seen in seven days' time) does that mean I'm addicted?

Well Hallelujah and pass the fresh batteries! :D

I couldn't have said it better myself.  That's perfect.  Men have had mistresses and sex with as many women as possible throughout history.  Its hard to believe we're more "addicted to sex" now than at any time in the past.

First, I remember reading not that long ago that men who came five times/week or more had a lower risk of developing prostate cancer.  Makes sense.  Also heard that there is a connection to longevity as well.  More sex, live longer and healthier.  Also makes sense.  Lastly, someone posted above about building rehab centers for the afflicted?  These have existed for many years, and similar in set-up to drug rehabs.

As for loving sex and the women here, guilty as charged.  As for allowing the hobby to fuck up the rest of my life, never a consideration.  But hobbying has increased my overall happiness, so it's been good for me.

If I had Tiger's money, I'd have done what he did, except that I would have stayed single.  Had he done that, he'd be considered a playboy, instead of a cheat.

Tiger should have found a woman that was into the swinger lifestyle.  Then he could have it all!

I think about pussy all the time. Every woman I meet I size them up for sex. I cum a lot during a week, however it can be in spells. If I was rich I would have bed sores from screwing all the time.
