What do you personally think about these new laws about transgender people and bathrooms?

..gays have finally gained equality under the law. Transgender's day will come. Caitlyn Jenner put that on the map. So...who should SHE thank for putting HER on the map.....Annie Liebovitz. That photo made a huge fucking impact.

It's not how you self identify sexually, but how others, including children would identify you.  

Not to over complicate things here, but it is rather simple.  If you have a penis, use the male bathroom, if you have a vagina, use the women's bathroom.  I don't discriminate, and I do not support discrimination against anyone whether they are straight, gay, transgender, other, black, white, purple, it doesn't matter.  There is too much PC going around and it is to the point where people cannot have their own opinion without someone calling them racist or immediately jumping down their throat.

Gays make up 2-3 percent of the population, depending on which data you look at.
That means trans are probably about 1/4th of one percent.  
I'm totally against discrimination in any form whether it be race, religion or sexual preference  
But imposing stupid laws that 95% of the population don't even understand creates more resentment and discrimination.  
Until the LGBT community understands that their sexual preference and personal lives should stay personal there'll always be haters

What goes on behind closed doors...something we are all quite familiar with...should always be kept private.

I spend such a small percentage of my days in public restrooms to begin with and tend to just get my business done and get out...and rarely do I even bother taking note who's in there with me...that the entire subject has almost no direct impact on my life...

If gender doesn't matter in which toilet you use, then if you have male bits, use the male toilet.

If you look like a girl - use the girls bathroom

While I agree that it's wrong to target bigoted businesses simply to put them out of business, I also believe that the moment you open your business to the public you have no right to pick and choose who you will serve, especially if it violates civil rights laws. It's discrimination pure and simple and if you can't accept that your services s/b available to everyone then maybe it's time to get out of business.

That is very clear and I hope the Supreme Court makes quick work of them, but I won't hold my breath.

Honestly - not really sure I see the point of separate facilities  - especially if you aren't going to restrict usage.

Parents out in pubic with young children, for generations, have taken their child into the restroom of the parent's gender, regardless of the child's. Thus, fathers with young daughters have taken them into the men's room (in fact, I just saw that the other day) and mothers with young son's have taken them into the ladies room.   So why now is there such an uproar about children being in a restroom with people of a different gender, or at least how some interpret gender?    

...any cis man will "decide on the spot" that he feels womanly that day and decide to use the ladies room on a whim. Yeah-that happens alot. Or that any cis man with devious intentions will invade a ladies room simply because he legally can. That happens NOW.

Up until a few minutes ago, that was illegal.  So of course it was uncommon.  

I wouldn't like it much, but I serve them unless they proved to be a danger to me or my other customers.

But unfortunately they are sandwiched in between decades of hateful partisan vitriol that is most definitely NOT smart or even funny for that matter.

Really in today's time who are we to judge? If a man wants to become a women or vice versa. Let them. What other people do with there lives isn't any of our business.

Should it be the local government? The state government? the federal government?

It's another attempt by the party that screams about smaller government while creating new ways for the government to be involved in how lives are lived.. The party of pro-life.. no social support and now dropping your pants before entering a bathroom is amazing..  

As a business you can't discriminate against a protected class but otherwise you sure can refuse service.  

What come to mu mind - what is TS is a lesbian?  Or how easy it would be for Gentlemen just dress up as woman and start use lady s washrooms.

I agree. This PC crap is getting out of hand.  

Small restaurant owners will be forced to put in another restroom. That they cannot afford. All for a very small percentage of America.

Ur post was a blend of fancy - bbfs4ever - bigguy30 - poor English skills. All smashed into one post. Pretty cool I must say. Interesting? Not in the least.  

Gays and transgendered are not the same thing.
But the NC and other states that have passed bathroom laws ( all states firmly in control by a certain political party ) have used the hysteria of a predator getting into a bathroom to get your kid as a means to attach additional laws that permit discrimination.  For sample the NC diner that can no longer refuse service to colored folk can now refuse to serve gays.

Go with what you need to do. Odds are that anyone in a dress or skirt will not opt go a urinal, let let what happens in the stall stay there.  
My heart bleeds for the trans high school kids. Laws like these are sentencing these kids to guaranteed bullying, and possible bodily harm or death. Who the hell do these "lawmakers" think their kidding? I can't imagine the terror kids feel being forced to run a potential gauntlet everyday.

Same way as I would not use same restroom with stranger male.  I would use washroom with TS or female or male I know - no problem  

I wonder what the passing of that law was really all about. I doubt if they were truly "looking out" for residences of the State. Maybe someone can point to other examples of how they care about people, but it mystifies me because I don't see how it has been economically beneficial.

The presumption that a gay person is a pedophile knocks me out.. The same assumption is made about transgendered people.. That somehow how a person is wired becomes harmful behavior to others is disgusting and simply ignorant.. I'm sure that a gay person or a transgendered person has no interest in children.. complete jerks.

I recently checked the national statistics, according to one source the total number is about 700,000 or 0.3% of the total U.S. population.  So this law or bill that is receiving so much attention, to me it isn't the issue.  The issue is how comfortable the majority population would feel about walking into a public restroom whether it is with a child and maybe having to explain this to them.  I don't see the bathroom portion as discrimination, now the hiring of, firing of, denying service to for being transgender is big issue for me.  At the end of the day, people are people, and no-one should be treated in a negative manner because of how they choose to live their lives.  What I do find odd, and retouching on what was said earlier, is that everybody seems to be an advocate for, and I haven't seen anyone come out with a against stance.  ESPN, ABC, NBC, etc all seem  to be for.  

After reading this convoluted mess by BBBBB that I think was in agreement with my initial argument about "equipment" I think I have changed my mind and now agree with Bill Maher. "If you look like a man, use the men's room. If you look like a woman, use the ladies room. All 15 + years in states I just crying form laughing reading what arrogant and non intelligent people have said me  
If I will took all to heart - I would be already DEAD  yet I am still speaking my mind and never hiding true feelings to be politically correct and not afraid to be different.

So should we ban gay men from the men's room and make them use the ladies' room?  Make Lopaw use the men's room?  Oh, shit, where should the transsexuals pee?!
