My "best friend" for over 20 years made a play for a girl that I went out with several times and was absolutely crazy about. How the hell am I supposed to feel about this in light of the fact that she welcomed his advances? Should I be furious with them both due to the fact that they both knew how I felt about her? Her's and my relationship had not gotten to the physical point yet when all this happened.

Is this girl really worth loseing your friend over?  If its working out for them, maybe it was meant to be.  Had she really wanted to be with you, she wouldn't have accepted his advances. If this friend has done this in the past, he's a snake.  If its the first time, I'm sure he had his reservations and concerns.  In my openion, I think you should talk to him, keep your friendship and go on with life.

Being a guy whose first wife wound up married to his former best friend, I'm a bit of an expert on the subject. My personal opinion is to be done with both of them. That's what I did, and I think they got the shitty end of the stick. They got each other.

Neither of them really, truly care about you as a friend and a human being.  I also believe you should be thankful that the woman showed you her true colors before your relationship with her went any further.  She may have saved you much heartbreak and even more!  So sorry they could do this to someone they claim to care about!

I think I could have worked through this situation if either one of them, or both, had come to me and told me that they thought something might be there between the two of them. As it was, they "came out" in front of me at a nightclub where we went to hear an 80's band play. Holding hands, squeezing on each other, etc. I was so stunned that I couldn't even talk. The thought that he would stab me in the back never, ever, ever crossed my mind and I think that's why it hurt so much.
It's true that it was a blessing that I found out who she was as well before it was too late. In the time since, I've discovered that she's quite the little game player. We have lots of mutual friends and she likes to tell everyone that she and I went out once in order to minimize our relationship and not look bad for the two of them stabbing me in the back. While she is extremely good looking, she clearly has some issues that are someone else's problem and not mine.
He's always been quite the narcissist so the fact this happened at some point in our friendship I suppose shouldn't have been a surprise. His true colors obviously came out as well. We've not spoken in quite some time and he's basically dead to me.
Not gonna get drunk and pout about it. Spent a good portion of my life getting drunk and the last few years have been spent sober...makes you think much clearer. Oh yeah, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!

Sorry, man, but that shit happens in civvie world.  From the sound of it, she is playing the field, and you are not the only player on it.   You had better start playing harder, not complain here...this is not civvie world!  

As a hobbyist, I have to share all of the ladies I love with others.  This is why I have a circle of friends, and why I have been able to operate successfully for the last six years.  I use jealousy to my advantage, and play with a wonderful assortment of women.  You should too!
